need this gamertag, that has been inactive

i would love to have this gamertag: Cube. because it would help complete my cycle with xbox and if i could receive help on retrieveing it. that would be very thankful

Inactive gamertags

There are millions of inactive gamertags on Xbox Live that maybe been inactive for months even years. Everyday it is becoming more difficult to find a gamertag that you would like to have. I think it is unfair for someone like me who is an active Xbox Live
member that plays on a daily basis not be able to purchase the gamertag I desire because it has been taken by someone that has been inactive for years. For example, the gamertag I want has no game history, no friends, etc. but it is taken. I am not the only
one who feels the same, this is why Im posting this. It should a way Microsoft reset gamertags that have been inactive for a certain amount of time and I really they consider. Thank you.

 

Freeing up an inactive Gamertag

Was wondering if it was possible to have a Gamertag freed up that has been inactive for years.

 

There is no way to request a gamertag. The only way to get it is if the original owner changes it to something else or if they do not sign into the account for 5 years (starting in 2016) it'll be freed up. Keep in mind that the gamertag system is in use
on other Microsoft services. So even if it's not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use somewhere else.

 

I have seen people send messages to the original user asking if they might have that gamertag, and some folks are quite nice about especially if it has no menial value to them. It doesn't hurt to first try to ask
