WITH MY FIREWALL I SEE ONLY TIMES ONLY ATTACK DDOS FROM ON YOUR NETWORK XBOX LIVE AND IM BORED TO LOST MY CONNECTING OR DIFFICULT TO FOUND OTHER PLAYER IN YOUR XBOX LIVE NETWORK.

Not necessarily. Since Microsoft and Sony are huge multi-billion dollar companies, investing a fraction of that money shouldn't be a problem to get their hands on equipment that protect normal servers and routers and are specifically built to detect and filter the malicious traffic. These equipment need skilled network and security engineers to operate, which is why it is not a common method of defense against DDoS attacks. But, this criteria is expected of these huge companies.

Microsoft really needs to do something to protect their network from these stupid DDOS attacks. According to "Phantom Squad" they are behind this and it's only going to get worse. They claim that they are going to attack the network again on December 25th
and keep it down for 7 days. If this does indeed happen I don't think I'll be buying XBL gold since it's useless anyway. Really Microsoft, you can't do anything to protect your network from these attacks? If not, I don't see why people should pay for a
"premium" experience.

Ddos attacks are done via your broadband, not xbox live & are down to your isp to sort out,not Microsoft.

Xbox live comes thru only certain private ports which can't be used for ddos.attacks

Ddos comes thru tcpip ports it's the same as your Internet signal

That is the nature of the internet

As daft mentioned research the facts

You must connect to.people that's how they find your ip

A properly setup firewall woulddump a ddos attack

Thats on your isp.and you

[/quote]It's not just gamers that are vulnerable to DDoS attacks. Sites throughout the year get hit with massive DDoS attacks in an attempt to bring services of said site down. This is not something unique to gamers playing on an xbox. Also this is an
issue that MS cannot particularly address as this is an attack that is not going through their network. It's happening over the internet itself. MS's only jurisdiction is over xbox live.

If you (or anyone else for that matter) is suffering from a DDoS then you need to contact your ISP as MS has no control over this. If suspect anyone of breaching the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct then file a complaint via your console.
