Need Some Help on setting up XB One and using game discs

OK, first off, I apologize for any stupid noob questions. I just got Xbox One yesterday with the Assassins Creed bundle and spent all night installing. I also picked up the Master Chief collection and installed that. When it's all over, more than a third
of my 500 Gb memory is used up, on just three games and the Halo Channel. Am I doing something wrong? I understand that the Assassins Creed games had to be downloaded in full because there was no physical disc, but Master Chief took a big chunk out of my
hard drive. Is there a way to install just the update and not the full disc content? Did I miss something in the Settings? On my 360 I had a 250Gb memory and over a dozen games installed and still had about 45-50 Gb free. On the XB One it seems like I
have to install each game completely, and if that's the case, I'm going to run out of memory FAST. I have no problem with installing an external drive, but at this rate even a 1 Tb external memory is going to be eaten up fast.

Also, am I correct that the only way to eject a disc is to get up and press the button? Again, I have no problem with getting up off my ***; I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Thank you very much in advance for any help or information or advice. -- Tom

    :)

If your amp is also in the cuboard with sky then yep you can use the IR points on them but you will also need it on the XB. The kinect is only IR emitting and doesn't receive, the XB has a small IR point on the front near the disc slot so even if you simply say Xbox One the kinect Sends the on signal out but the XB still needs to see it from the IR point (that's my understanding anyway, as I say, I mainly got my set up as it is so I could also use the media remote, but I would certainly get the IR kit and just test the XB interaction, even if it helps with sky and amp control it's a win!)

New Home Gold (actual email about it)

EASY FIX have one main XB as primary.. set up all other accounts as gold under that XB1.. sign into 2nd 3rd and 4th XB1 as guest using your gamertag IE do not make it a primary...

one XB GOLD account = 5 gamertags

also this will help with games... make sure each game you purchase is under the primary console

Need Some Help on setting up XB One and using game discs

    Hello Tom.

No harm in "noob questions", we all need to start somewhere. Need Some Help on setting up XB One and using game discs ;)

So the 500GB hard drive, I think after the Operating System and other reservations are factored in, roughly 320GB is available for your use to install games.

As for disc installations, yes the entire thing needs to be installed - both the game content and the updates. There is no way around that. All Xbox One games are considerably larger than their 360 counterparts, eg Advanced Warfare is maybe 6GB on Xbox 360
and 45GB on Xbox One, so 250GB on a 360 will go considerably further than on a One. The Master Chief Collection, though, is unusually large at 65GB. No other game is nearly that big, hence that and Assassin's Creed will have taken some 100GB out of your 320GB
    available.

With some smaller games, you'll be able to download many more and use considerably less space, you just happen to have started off with a couple of the biggest. For what it's worth, my 500GB internal lasted about 10 months before I shelled out for a 2TB
external hard drive and now I still have some 75% free, even after downloading MCC, Horizon 2 and other big games. Yes, the 500GB will get eaten up considerably quicker than your Xbox 360's 250GB hard drive, BUT the rate will not nearly be as quick as these
two installations may suggest. As I said, you started off with some of the biggest games around.

As for disc ejections, yes you do need to press the button yourself on the console. At least in the current version of the OS. That could change in future, as it did on 360, but there's nothing announced on that front just yet.

I hope this answers all your questions, but in case it does not feel free to ask follow-up questions - about this or anything else. We'll be here to answer.

Thanks to you both, especially you, Maxen13! I really appreciate the input. At least for me the One is proving to be a very, very different change, much more than it was jumping from the original Xbox to the 360. (Or maybe I'm just not remembering it
    right after eight years!)

As for the memory, it really should not be an issue since between two Assassins Creed games and all of the Halo content I should have enough to keep me busy for quite a while...at least until Arkham Knight comes out!

Again, thank you very, very much for your answers.

Original Xbox to 360 was a pretty big change too but I think eight years have dulled the effects of that change. Then there was the massive shift from the original 'blades' dashboard to NXE (New Xbox Experience) within the 360's lifespan, which was also
    a massive change.

Anyway, I'm happy I could help you out. As I said, if you have any further questions feel free to ask. We'll be here.

And yes, Halo plus ACs should keep you going for a while.

Hope you enjoy playing the games! Need Some Help on setting up XB One and using game discs :)

    Xbox One BROKEN

    Hello everyone,

For those of you having troubles getting discs to read in your Xb One, please attempt the steps listed in this page:

    support.xbox.com/.../disc-error

    -

If this does not work, your system will likely need to be serviced. For those of you who purchased through an online store, I would recommend setting up a repair on your own or calling Xbox support and they can assist.
