Need Internet for Blu-ray? That doesn’t make much sense

Why can’t I watch a Blu-ray Disc without being connected to the internet? That makes zero sense. I have been connected to the Internet before and have tried the “go offline”. No dice. Internet has been down all day so i figures i’d rent some movies lol.
    Thanks Xbox!

    :)

    Not much sense!

    I love this idea.

    .

Some speculate that it will go down to $400....and then if they release a Kinect-less version it will go down another $100.

    .

I already have a PS4 and a PS3 so I don't need another system with a Blu Ray player. If I could get a X1 @ $400 with no Blu Ray player....that would be sweet.

  3. Not much sense!

I'll bring out a point I haven't seen brought up yet. If I don't think about it, it would be a reasonable way to get a cheaper xbox one to remove the blu ray disc (cause I do have now at least two other blu ray players, my PS3 and my PS4). And even though
I am obviously biased towards PS, I wouldn't object to an xbox one if I could get it cheap enough (it will be years before it gets to a price point I find worth it honestly as I only want it for the single player exclusives and they have yet even to have one
that I'd buy a console just to play that game). But when I think about one thing that isn't relevant to me now but no promise it will stay that way, I think it might be a bad idea not to have a blu ray reader in my game console (Some people might consider
    this even now).

I'm talking about the fact that some people have data caps on their internet plan (and it seems to be the way things are going sadly). Without a blu ray disc, you'll have to download all your games and use more data on your internet to do so. And if you
have a data cap, especially a smaller one, that could become a real issue especially if you go through games quickly (Plus it takes longer to download/install the games). It wouldn't affect me now cause I'm lucky as my provider doesn't have data caps, but
that isn't gauranteed that will stay the same. And since you really don't have much choice on data providers (You get to pick from the few that are in your area), it's not like there is competition to keep them honest. Add in now that they have said the FCC
can't regulate internet providers from making a distinction how you use your data. You might find more internet providers asking you to pay more for any data used gaming related.

Of course, one could argue that this is a problem of the fact internet providers are putting on data caps (and now can differentiate between how you use your data), but that doesn't change the fact they are doing it (Even if they don't differentiate you
have plenty of providers that just put an overall cap period on your internet use).

Next Xbox 'Will not include Optical Drive' - Well thats me out!

or even it could be a stripped down version of the Nextbox, like we currently have arcade, and elite (also pro in the early days)

    .

Makes sense if you don't need blu-ray and already have a blu-ray player, why would you want to pay extra for something you already have?

Disconnecting from Xbox Live while trying to start Black Ops

This needs to get fixed asap. Rain is pissing down outside, and there's not too much to do besides browse the internet and watch Blu-rays/DVDs with daytime TV being terrible!

Will the HD DVD xbox360 drive work on the X1?

Ok I an just curious but why would you even need the add on. It makes absolutely no sense why an Xbox One would play DVDs and Blu-Ray's and not play HD DVDs. I never bought the add on because I had a 360 and a PS3 at launch but it would not make sense
why the drive would be needed for the format to work in an Xbox One.

    Movies

Unfortunately the movies are run through a blu-ray player app that needs to be connected to the internet.
