need help

my xbox 360 is not letting me play any game it just say play dvd when i have a game in what can i do to fix it any help would be helpful

I'm not totally understanding this. Are you saying that someone on Live is pulling off some sort of hack on an account that's on your Xbox because of the IP and they're keeping you offline? Hell, I didn't even know they could do that.

Have you tried customer service? Or maybe even a ping test?

It sounds like you might have a faulty drive or a faulty disc. Have you tried another disc?

EDIT: Disregard my last line as it sounds more like the update has caused this bug in some X1's and you've just been really unlucky with timing. No doubt MS will fix it soon.

 

My original 360 did that for a while. I don't have any really helpful suggestions for fixing it. I got mad at it and unplugged it and plugged it back in a bunch of time and cleared the cache but as far as I know none of that resulted in it eventually just
fixing itself.

 

Sounds like your DVD drive is on the way out. The only thing you can do to fix it is send it to Microsoft for repair. Though if it is out of warranty then your looking at a hefty bill for them to do it.

 

This is what happened to one of my 360 slim consoles. The disc drive just died on me. The only thing you can really do is send it in for repair, or get a new 360. Of course, there's a chance it'll work again. I used to unhook everything and hook it back
up and that seemed to work sometimes. But it does sound like it's on the way of dying.

 

1) Check your gamedisc. Around the center hole there is a ring which reads. Xbox 360 printed in the disc which the laser reads the codex from which tells the system that it is a Xbox 360 gamedisc and when read properly the laser will then begin reading the
gamedisc from the outside in (games) as opposed to from the inside out. (CD/DVD)

If that ring on the game is scratched, or dirty and the laser cant read the codex correctly and The sytem will think that their is a DVD in the drive. So clean the disc carefully around the center codex label with a microfiber cloth (Eye glass cloth or simular)
and be extra careful not to scratch the codex ring then try it.

2) If after carefully cleaning the gamedisc and still no joy. Send in the console for repair as the laser is likely far too weak to even read the codex from the gamedisc.
