need help with xbox gold 1 month

Okay, so before my gold ran out on my dashboard was a big ad allowing me to purchase 1 month or 1 year of xbox gold and it would allow me do it with what money i have on my xbox account. but i only had $2 on it at the time so i go and buy a $25 gift card
to renew my membership and the option is no longer there.... HOWEVER now there is a 1 year ad on my front page and it wont let me purchase 1 month.... FIGURES..... i also tried purchasing online and it says i need a credit card. why did you change the xbox
points to actual $$ if a gift card cannot be used? im guessing this is just a way to sucker those people in that use credit cards and dont cancel the renewal......... or is there ANY way possible that i can purchase 1 month..... without having to buy a gold
card......................,.......................... cause in that case im not

Please I need urgent help I got my xbox today and my brother brought me a 12 month gold so I put that on my account and my new xbox come with a 1 month so I put that on as well but It cleared my 12 month gold I need help because I did not know this was
going to happen???!!

Help, I juz bought a 1 month gold-subscription on the xbox website and even received an email saying i have successfully purchased a 1 month subscription. When I go to the xbox console, Im still a silver member. On the xbox website, it shows that I am a
Gold member. I need help please

"Prepaid codes can be used to extend an Xbox Live subscriptions or for games, entertainment, and other special offers."

 

Sorry but the currency is the same as MS Points. Neither are able to be used to purchase a Gold membership. You'll either need to add a credit card or paypal or purchase a Gold membership card if you want to have a Gold membership.

 

well right here it clearly states that any code can be used to redeem my gold.

first it says

"Have a gift card, prepaid card, or promotional code? Click here to enter 25 digit code:"

and right under that you read..

"Prepaid codes can be used to extend an Xbox Live subscriptions or for games, entertainment, and other special offers."

let me guess "only certain prepaid codes" ha

that clearly isnt what it says on the page i posted but whatever im goin to sony where its free like it should be.

it WILL allow me to purchase gold through my dashboard with whats in my account but it will only let me purchase the 12 month pack. and it DID let me purchase it by the month before i lost my gold. it said on the main page "GOLD RUNNING OUT" "Renew for $8.98"
and it would have taken it straight out of my microsoft account but i didnt have the money at the time.

 

No that is incorrect. On the card itself it Clearly state what the card is only used for. You cannot use Currency cards to purchase Live Subscription at ANY time. However you did it before it is not right.

 

You're absolutely right:

Note the word PREPAID though. Prepaid suggests that the code has already been fully paid for. A prepaid subscription code (Gold, Season Pass, etc), a prepaid game (some are out there) or other prepaid offers.

A currency code is not a prepaid code. Currency is an amount of money that you purchase a code for so you can apply it to your account so you can easily purchase games/dlc for the account. There is currently no way to purchase a Gold membership with the
currency on your account.

There are also other things on the marketplace that you cannot use currency for such as the EA Access program on the Xbox One. This is due to the fact that those memberships are recurring memberships and the company needs a guarantee that there will be
money on the account when the membership renewal comes due.
