Need help with xbox controller and headset.

I recommend to try this:

• Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working. If not, the headset will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.
• Try your Stereo Headset and Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller, if you can.
  
• If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating the first controlleragain.
  
• If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.

I understand you need help with your headset problem.

Try checking the manufacturer if the headset has some updates you need to do in order for it to work with the Xbox controller.

If other headsets are working fine, this could already be an issue with the headset that you are using. Try it on a different controller as well just to isolate the issue.

Also, check if your controller needs an update.

Hello Jabsa, for what I saw here, you don't need a adapter for Xbox One S controller, just for the Original Xbox One controller. So you can simply plug your headset directly to the headset jack on the controller.
