    Need help with refund from Microsoft for Xbox One S Console


    I know this may not be the most effective way of getting things done, but quite frankly I'm running out of options. I've called the Microsoft customer service about multiple times (8 times) and each time I've gotten pushed aside and told that my case will
    be escalated and I will get my refund shortly. It has been 2 months since I requested for a refund and I haven't even received an email saying that the money will be refunded, let alone actually getting the money back on my card.

    This is what the situation is:



    I've always wanted an Xbox console since I was a child, and I decided to finally save up some money and buy the Xbox one S console from the Microsoft Online store, because I was told that Microsoft has good customer service and if there were any problems
    with the order I could get a refund or replacement without any hassle. So, I went ahead and placed the order (Date: 25th November 2017). However, within 1 hour of placing the order I had to cancel. So, I went to my order on the online store and requested
    a cancellation, but I got an error saying, "Sorry something went wrong on our end, please try again later". As soon as I saw this I called Microsoft Customer Service and spoke to an agent to tell him what the issue was. The agent was extremely helpful and
    assured me that the order was cancelled.



    The next morning, I get two emails from the Microsoft Store. The first was confirmation of my online order, and the second was confirmation of shipping, the irony of the email was it said, "Thank you for shopping with us - we can't wait to get this to you".
    That line really annoyed me to say the least.

    So once again I called up customer service asking them to try and stop the shipment (only the shipping label was created at this point, the item was not picked up by UPS yet). The agent told me that they cannot stop an item from being shipped once the label
    has been created (a little weird, but I guess that is the store policy). The agent then told me "If you still do not want the item, simply refuse shipment. A refund will be processed 5-7 business days after the product is back in our warehouse." I explained
    to the agent that I cannot do that because most of the times, the UPS delivery person just leaves the package at my doorstep and leaves (and that is exactly what happened). So, the agent told me not to worry about it and that he would just send me a return
    shipping label and I can ship it back to the Microsoft Returns Center. Once they receive it they will process my refund. All well and good at this point.



    Fast forward 25 days and 4 additional phone calls later, still no return label. Every time I called, it connected to someone new and I had to explain the situation repeatedly. Every agent gave me the same generic response, "I'm so sorry about the inconvenience
    caused, I will escalate this case so that you can get a refund as soon as possible. I assure you, within 1-2 business days your issue will be solved." Every agent gave me a new case number (after the 2nd phone call I stopped getting emails regarding my case).



    I finally got a return label after a little over one month. I shipped the Xbox immediately (Date: January 3rd). The Xbox reached the Microsoft Returns Center on January 8th (an agent confirmed that the Microsoft Returns Center received the Xbox).



    Once again, fast forward 2 weeks and 2 additional phone calls later, I still haven't received my refund. It's almost TWO months since I asked for a refund. Once again, I was given new case numbers. Once again, I was told "We will escalate your case and
    I assure you that within 1-2 business days you will get your refund back." I haven't even received any email communication about the refund. Every agent says they will send me an email and if my problem isn't solved, I can reply to their email and they would
    call me back to help me with the refund. Conveniently, I did not receive any emails.

    Bottom line is I have been patient long enough, and now Microsoft seems to think it's acceptable to give me fake assurances repeatedly and try to keep my $200. This is unacceptable behavior from such a well reputed company. I've had nothing but misery
    when contacting customer support. Now I see that the only way to get anything done is to give an honest review (Suffice to say it won't be a complimentary review) on social media. As a start I'm putting this on the forum with the hope that it is viewed by
    someone within the company who might care a little bit.



    At this point, I neither have the product nor the money. Please, end this misery and do the right thing Microsoft. This situation is beyond ridiculous at this point.

  2. Xbox One S offer validity

    Hi,

    I received an email indicating I am eligible for the Xbox One S offer of 50k rewards points upon my first order of an Xbox One S from the Microsoft Store more than 10 days ago. I ordered on Oct 26 and now see in the FAQ that the offer is valid for orders
    placed between Oct 29 and Dec 31. Do I need to return my order for a refund and place a new one to have my account credited with the rewards points?

    Since you made your purchase through the Microsoft Store, Xbox Support would not be able to assist with this.

    Microsoft Store Sales and Customer Support:

    Refunds usually take 10-14 business days to process after they received the console you sent them. They need to check and make sure it's still in working order and nothing is missing from the bundle.

    You stated - "The Xbox reached the Microsoft Returns Center on January 8th"

    The 14th business day would be January 26th.

    This game is not available for the Xbox One S. It's only available for latest Series S or Series X consoles. You'll need to request a refund.

    X/S is for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, these are the new gen consoles, a lot of new games are now being released on the newer consoles only, and that game is one of them. you will need to request a refund from your purchase history.

    The Xbox one Family consist of

    Xbox One X

    these consoles are technically old and becoming obsolete.

    You can't. If you have an Xbox One S and the game is for the Series S|X, you'll need to buy the latest console or request a refund if you have already purchased an incompatible game.
