Depends on your surround sound system. We need more information on your system. For surround sound, chances are through a Digital Audio (SPDIF) cable if you surround sound system has an input for it.

HELP!! Xbox one and surround sound system

I was just wondering if I could get some help and advice about buying and installing a surround system with my xbox one. I had an xbox 360 and a sony surround sound system which was fine how ever when I upgraded to xbox one I couldn't get the system to work
so returned it. Therrfore what are the must have specifications for compatability be when them. Ie. Does the surround have to have more than one hdmi?!?

G'day APEX! Hooking up a sound system is pretty simple. Leave the HDMI cable hooked up to your TV for video. Your system likely came with an audio cable. Plug one end of that into the optical audio port on the back of your console, and plug the other end
into the audio input port on your sound system's receiver.

Hey there Covert! How do you have everything connected? What cables are you using? In what order are things hooked up? Hopefully we can get you squared away with that info.

Have you gone in to the settings on the Xbox and made sure that everything is set to suit your surround system. For dolby surround you will need "bitstream out".
