Need help with installing gaming services in xbox pc app

So to start off, I tried to install a game from gamepass on the xbox app on the pc, but then when the download got stuck, I closed out the app to try and get it unstuck. When I restarted the app though, all my games are gone despite still being installed, I can't install new ones because it says I need to download gaming services which I already have, and the app says it can't detect my installation location.

I'm not sure what else to try, as over the course of the last five hours, I've tried every fix I could find, but nothing seems to work; it still keeps trying to endlessly download gaming services because it seems to think I don't have it.
Edit: something I forgot to mention is that while it endlessly installs on the xbox app, the microsoft app has it stuck pending permanently, which I managed to fix at one point, allowing it to download, only for the xbox app to say it needs downloaded again.

I saw someone online mention that a broken/corrupted install had messed up their app in a similar way, but I can't find where the app actually tried to install the game the first time.

Certainly, I'd help more if I was able but it seems like I just got lucky

It took my about two days, but most of that was spent trying other stuff intermittently

I was probably on my fifth uninstall of gaming services when the Xbox app finally decided to actually install it properly

In this case you will need to perform a system reset, you can do this while keeping your files.

If you are on Windows 11:

Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC.

Then make sure you have the option to keep your files enabled.

Keep my files > Change settings > Pre-installed apps On.

If you are on Windows 10:

Select the Start button, then Settings > Update and security > Recovery. Under Restore this PC, select Get Started and then verify that the Keep your files option is active.

This doesn't seem to have changed the error unfortunately

Unfortunately this error code is also related to Gaming Services. Please try the following process:

Open PowerShell as administrator

Run this command

Get-AppXPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppXPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

That done, run the following.

Get-AppXPackage WindowsStore -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppXPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Restart the PC and try again
