Need help with ad hoc network

So I set up an ad hoc wireless network on my PC and made sure to enable sharing but my Xbox One still can't find it. I tried power cycling and that didn't do anything. Would really appreciate some help.

connecting to xbox live via ad-hoc

Hi,

So I'm not able to connect to my building complex's WiFi since it uses security features not available on the xbox. My laptop and cellphone are able to connect but not my Kindle.

As a work around that's allowed, I can use an ad-hoc network.

I'm running Windows 7 and followed the instructions for setting up an ad-hoc network with an internet connection. I also put a password on the ad-hoc network. My xbox can recognize and connect to the ad-hoc. However it fails to connect to xbox live.

My laptop is still able to access the internet when I make an ad-hoc network.

My xbox's ethernet port is broken, it's approaching 5 years so needless to say, I have no warranty and the expected cost of fixing it is too high. I might as well buy a new xbox, but why would I buy a new xbox when I have a working xbox sans ethernet port.

Any help would be appreciated,

How to connect my 360 slim over my pc with xbox live

Hi,

I tried several time to connect my xbox slim over my pc with xbox live.

Therefore I creat a ad-hoc network to connect the xbox with my pc over WLAN.

xbox

ip: 192.168.2.2

subnet: 255.255.255.0

gateway: 192.168.2.1

pc

ip:192.168.2.1

subnet: 255.255.255.0

the pc is connected through LAN with the internet.

if I start the test routine of the xbox, it can connect with the ad-hoc network. But it can not connect to the internet.

Internet Connection Sharing Troubleshooter to set up a shared internet connection on the Xbox One console.

Tj it is easier to use a router as a ad hoc network

You can still use the wifi but you need the router to hand out the ips and handle the traffic

I got to the advanced settings menu and only had the option to “specify un-listed network” or “create ad-hoc network”

I'm trying to do the exact same thing, and it seems to be okay up until the point that I attempt to connect my xbox to my ad hoc. It says waiting for users, but when I connect my xbox to it, it gets a red 'x' on my laptop for the ad hoc connection and says,
"The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network."

Sorry for the double post but when I decided to actually add my wireless network manually I had to select the security. When I wanted to select the WPA2 security it says that the security mode is not supported for ad-hoc networks. Not sure if it is of any
use to you.
