  1. Need help setting up child account permissions for restricted purchasing.

So, last night my son wanted to purchased a new game off on his Xbox One. I had no issues with the game so we proceeded. Shortly after he started the purchase process he got to a screen that said he didn't have permissions to make the purchase and that
the permissions on his account needed to be changed. So I had to log in to my account on his Xbox, change the permissions on his account to allow purchases and he was able to proceed. Then I'm having to change it back. Now here is the strange thing, we
noticed a setting that indicated purchases could be made but had to be approved. I.e. he would start the process, then I could enter my account password giving approval without having to log in, change his account settings, then change them back later. This
setting indicated that a "Yes" would prompt for the adult permission and that a "No" would block the purchases all together. It was set to "Yes" but didn't prompt me.

I've yet to find anywhere online (outside of the Xbox settings) where this setting shows up. I'm continually baffled by the Microsoft restrictions and settings pages. Especially the "Privacy and Online Safety" page on Xbox.com. Specifically the separate
tabs for "Xbox One/Windows 10" and "Xbox 360" I could see how this would make some since if certain settings only pertained to Xbox One and the others to Xbox 360, but both seem to pertain to both. Strange.

So rant over. Back to may original question. How to I need to set up the permissions so that my son can make purchases, but needs to get my approval (i.e. enter my password) to allow him to do so, rather than having to log into
my account, change his permissions, then later remember to change them back? Can all of these settings be done online or do some (or all) of them need to be done on the Xbox? Do that need to be done specifically on HIS Xbox, or can I set them on the other
Xbox in the house and have them propogate to his account where ever he logs in?

    :)

Child unable to purchase content with points even after authorizing his account to do so.

The first question is, what is it specifically your son is trying to purchase with his points? If he has a child account, he may be restricted from purchasing T and M rated content from the Marketplace without your permission. When you say you changed his
account settings to allow him to purchase content, are you referring to his Online Safety settings?

You may want to check the guide to setting up a child account with specific settings here:

    Xbox One Child Account Information

Microsoft gives the parents the control over what their kids play, you go into settings, and you can set up the child settings and restrict what ratings for movies, tv shows, music, and games can be accessed by the child account. If you want your child to play a game that's rated M, then set it to that. Want the child restrictions turned off, then do that. The power is in your hands.

So you can sign into your account at account.microsoft.com/family and it will allow you to set restrictions on what he can purchase as far as age restrictions and if your password would be needed to allow him to purchase things above what is restricted age
wise. if you have your credit/debit card on his account you can remove it and from the family website it will allow you to add money to his account to make purchases with and within the age restriction this way you can limit what types of games he is allowed
to purchase to age appropriate/content restricted games.

Cant purchase this month's game with gold; Dead Space

Account restrictions won't affect 360 games

If you have a child account you need to buy it on a 360 console

Xbox one account restrictions and permissions don't apply to xbox 360 games

However parental settings must be set for xbox child accounts for purchases including Web purchases

    Son spent money on Roblox

The way this is supposed to be set up is that you have a child account and an adult account. The child account is a separate account but it cannot act independently of the adult account. From the adult account you can set purchasing permissions and even
set a monthly allowance that will not be exceeded. You can also set restrictions on what you child views or sees and how they can pick friends.

The problem is that most of the time when these accounts are set up, parents do not create a child account, they just set up an adult account for the child, and we cannot set permissions on an adult account.

The only thing you can do with an adult account is remove any payment methods and add gift cards to the account as needed. That way when the money is gone its gone.

    Avatar Purchases for Children?

If the purchase is coming from the restricted account(s) then there should be a prompt asking for the password/pass code for the parent account of the child(ren)'s account. (That's how it is on my console.) After entering the password/pass code, you will
be allowed to make purchases on the restricted account for a limited time. Assuming this didn't happen for you, there's another way. You'd have to change the child(ren)'s account permissions, allowing them to make purchases. After the purchases, you may change
the permissions back, restricting the child(ren)'s account once again.

Unable to download due to age restrictions

Hey there Gavva! This is probably due to your age restrictions set up on your child account by the parent account. You will need to give your account permissions to purchase game content. Here's a guide to parental controls, if you need it:
