Need Help Recovering Microsoft Account – Not Receiving Code, Want It Sent to Main Email

I know how frustrating it is when you're locked out of your account and the code won't arrive. Unfortunately, Microsoft can only send recovery codes to the contact methods you already added to your account — they can’t switch to a new email unless you're signed in. But here’s what you can do:

1. Try resending the code from the password reset page

Go to: https://account.live.com/password/reset

Choose “I forgot my password”

Enter your email and follow the steps

When it asks where to send the code, select the older Gmail

After requesting the code, wait at least 10 minutes

Check your Inbox, Spam, Promotions, and All Mail folders

If nothing shows up, try again using a different browser or private mode — it sometimes helps the form work better.

2. Still not receiving the code? Use the Recovery Form

Use: https://account.live.com/acsr

Fill in as many correct details as you can (old passwords, Xbox gamertags, past billing info, folder names, etc.)

Use your main email as the contact email (where Microsoft will send results)

This form bypasses the code step and goes straight to the recovery team

3. You’ll get a reply in 24 hours

Microsoft will email you with a result — if successful, they’ll give you steps to reset your password.

If the form is rejected, you can try again with more accurate info (up to 2 times per day).

Extra Tip:

If you're still logged into the account on an Xbox, PC, or phone, try changing your recovery info there before signing out.

Hello! Make sure your friend has the correct email linked to their Xbox account and/or number. When verifying an account, a code should be sent to either your friend's email or phone number.

Sorry to hear you have not yet received a response from the Account recovery form.

In most cases a response from the account recovery team should be responding within 24 hours of filling out the form, How long has it been since you have submitted the request?

Also make sure that you are filling it out correctly. It should ask you what email address you want to use to have the communication sent out to you. Make sure that you are using a valid email that you have access to and not the email that you are trying
to recover, if this is the case the recovery emails are being sent to the account you are trying to recover.

Follow the support page before and make sure that you read carefully and fill it our completely. If it has not been 24 hours yet I would advise that you wait and see what they tell you.
