Need help. Moving Xbox live profile to External Hard Drive on Xbox one.

I picked up a WD My Book 4TB external Hard Drive. I would like to move my xbox live profile account to the external hard drive, but see no option to do that. Thus far I have not found any solutions through searching the forums, and google.

The primary reason I want to do this, is I often visit my nephews, whom I bought an xbox one for as well. While there I always have to recover my xbox live profile on their console, enter my password and all that. I would like to avoid having to do that.
Also my sister just had her internet shut off, so I don't think recovering my profile on their xbox is even an option now.

I picked up this HDD for multiple reasons, one of them was to just bring over everything I have installed on that HDD, and free up space on my nephews xbox(quite a few of the games installed are mine, that I just bring over when I visit)

TL;DR I need a way to have my xbox live profile on my external hdd, how do I go about doing that?

Hello, everyone. I want to ask the following subject: it results that I bought an Xbox One X which has 1TB Hard Drive and I want to store all games in the 4TB external hard drive I previously own but I want to keep my Profile exclusively on my Xbox One.
My question is: if I transfer the games to the 4TB external Hard Drive will my Profile still be just on my Xbox One and not get transfered with the games as well to the 4TB external hard drive?. I want my Profile to be just on the Xbox One. I do not wanna
get it transfered to the 4TB external hard drive...

Sorry that you're having this issue Vegito. Unfortunately there is currently no way to move your Xbox LIVE profile, from an Xbox One, to another Xbox One and there will never will be a way, unfortunately. The Xbox One's Xbox LIVE is cloud based therefore
the only way to get your profile onto another console is by downloading it form Xbox LIVE's cloud. Sorry about your troubles.

Appreciate the answer Szimmer, but I'm not quite ready to abandon all hope on it just yet. Hard to believe that they would take a backwards step like that. I know save data with accounts is also stored in the cloud, but I'm still hoping that there is some
method for me to use my account with my portable drive.

Being that my sister does not have internet, and I have no idea when she plans to correct that. I have no way to download my profile onto their xbox like I had been. I was hoping the portable drive would save me from that problem.

Would be great to have an official support give a definitive yes or no. Should it end up being a no, then I'd like to know if there are any plans to add that functionality in the future.

Can't be the only one who would like to take their profile on the go with their portable hard drive, without having to go through the hassle of adding the account on the new xbox and then subsequently remove it before leaving.

 

I'm curious about this to. My brother wants his profile on my xbox one but he forgot his email that was used to setup the profile so I thought I could transfer it using an external Hard drive. I hope they allow it be done this way soon if it is not already.

 

Maybe in the future we will see this, but if you contact @XboxSupport on Twitter they might be able to help your brother with his issue forgetting his email.

Well I've been all over every possible section of settings that could be related to moving the account. So far it does indeed seem to not be possible to move an account to external storage.

It is indeed something that should be resolved in the future. If we can take our entire xbox one library on the go, that should include our xbox one live account. While it may be easy to just download the profile onto another xbox, I don't care for entering
my password on a screen in front of others(which is required in that process)

 

As things stand currently, unfortunate as it may be. It does seem that moving the Xbox live profile to external storage is not possible. A large oversight to be sure, and something they should correct in the future.

If we can take our entire Xbox One library on the go, we should be able to do the same with our Xbox live profile. Without having to enter our accounts password on a screen in front of others(which is a requirement when downloading your profile to a new
Xbox)
