Need help iwht minecraft java launcher

The Minecraft launcher you are referring to is only for the Java edition of Minecraft. The Java edition and Windows 10, are two separate games. In order to launch and play Minecraft from the launcher you are using in the last image, you must buy the Java
edition from the site, not the Windows 10 version. Minecraft Java Edition | Minecraft. Annoying I know, but when Microsoft acquired Minecraft they released
their own version of the game on their platform. Hope this helps

Not sure why your Java username is showing as already taken, but since the Minecraft website shows that you own Java, this is probably just an issue with the Launcher syncing data.

Would you please try to reinstall Minecraft Java and the Minecraft Launcher too?

If Minecraft Java Edition is getting stuck on "Windows is updating", even though Bedrock runs fine, it’s likely an issue with the Minecraft Launcher or with Windows system files needed by Java.

Here’s what your friend can try:

Check for Windows Updates manually

Go to Settings > Windows Update

Install any available updates, then restart the PC

Run the Minecraft Launcher as Admin

Right-click the launcher shortcut

Click Run as administrator

Reset or reinstall the Minecraft Launcher

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Minecraft Launcher

Click Advanced options, then choose Reset

If that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the launcher from:

Check if Java is blocked by Antivirus or Firewall

For Minecraft Java, it is not possible to sync game time or time played with the Xbox app because this game does not actually run through the Xbox app or the Microsoft store.

This game run only through the Minecraft Launcher. It appears to all of us as N/A in “Time Played”.

Regarding the message: “click here to use the launcher to play!”, this happens if you try to launch Minecraft Java through the Xbox app, and that's because as I indicated previously, Minecraft Java runs through the Minecraft launcher and not through the Xbox app.

Now, If you have problems starting or installing Minecraft java from the launcher, then make sure your internet connection is stable. Minecraft Java can only be launched and installed through the Minecraft launcher.
