Need help installing disc game on xbox

Thanks for replying. I don't have any problem with installing any other games. As i have said earlier that i did install Fallout from my friends account and it worked fine. And fine with the game pass install too. The problem is my friends account was a temporary solution, he did removed his account after a while and he is abroad now. Like you said it should work fine either with disc or digital license, but my mine isn't. Could this be the problem, i bought this fallout from Japan, it has all the Japanese fonts on cover. I also bought GTA V from South Korea and it works fine. Also from China i bought Final Fantasy 15, which was not working because its Chinese version and i heard some regional lock issues. The disc can install completely but i couldn't play it. The thing is i travel a lot and buy these games as a part of my souvenir collection. Is there any way that i can still play this game like with changing my store to Japan or anything like that, installing fallout from my friends account is not possible anymore because we lost in touch.

Most Disc based games are not region locked and they should install the correct language from the disc based on what your console regional settings are. The only exception to this rule would be disc based games from China. You do not need to change the store to Japan to install this game.

My only suggested possible fix would be to reset the console. The first option would be to reset but keep all games and apps. If this does not work, you'll have to do option two which would completely restore your console.

For issues with the download/install problem with Fallout 4 it sounds like there is something corrupt the drive or external storage (if you own an external drive). I'm not sure what that issue is as though. If other games install, but Fallout 4 won't either from disc or download, it won't be a hard drive issue. Do other games install okay?

Regardless of how you install a game, disc or digital the console always checks first if you have a digital license for the game. If this isn't found (it takes seconds) it will look for a disc. Digital downloads aren't locked to a specific account. You only need to own the game either digitally tied to your account or on disc.

So, if you have access to an external drive, you could take this to your friends console and either copy or download Fallout 4 to an external drive. Then insert this drive into your Xbox and use your disc to launch the game. This should work.

If you're having issues installing other games you may need to perform a console reset.

A fast internet is not needed but helps, if I'm following correctly, the problem is that when you install from the disc, the Xbox will first download any patches needed before installing the game, if you have a slow internet connection it is best to install
the disc offline, then go online and it'll download the updates.

Thanks for your post. To clarify, are you asking about games on the Xbox One or Xbox 360? A game disc acts as a license to a game, on the Xbox One, the disc allows you to install the game data to your console, even though it is installed on the console you
will still need the disc in your device to launch the content.
