    Hey guys, Over the past 2 weeks I began experiencing pretty bad in game lag. My connection had always been fine before this. After the first time I noticed the issue, I went ahead and ran the Detailed Network Statistics on the Xbox One. Sure enough, it
    showed up as having 1% packet loss. Everything else was fine. 125mbps Down/ 18Mbps Up, 55ms Latency, MTU 1480. My setup is as follows: - ISP: Comcast XFinity - Modem: **** SB6183 - Router: Netgear Nighthawk r7000 (AC1900) - Xbox One Elite (brand new after
    taking my old Sunset Overdrive Edition Xbox One to Best Buy and exchanging through Warranty thinking my console was bad)) - Wired I've done as much research as possible to try and figure this out on my own, believe me, but I've come to the point where I don't
    know of anything else to try in order to figure out where the packet loss is coming from. I've done static ip for my console, done port forwarding, tried port forwarding with QoS, done DMZ mode, tried DMZ with QoS, tried UPNP on, tried UPNP on with QoS, tried
    changing MTU size, tried wired/wireless but no change, tried cat 5 Ethernet cables, tried cat 6 Ethernet cables, tested my connection on all sorts of sites (most reliable one being Testmy.net), tried running a ping to in the command line (shows no packet loss),
    etc. I tested my Xbox on my friends network (he has AT&T U-Verse) and when I run the Detailed Network a Statistics on my console it shows 0% packet loss so now I know it hasn't got anything to do with my console. It's got something to do between my ISP and
    XboxLive. This is why I've come to the conclusion that the only option I have left is to try to ping the Xbox Live IP address to see if that shows me where the fault is that's causing the 1% packet loss. . If anybody out there knows the XboxLive IP address
    or has any information or tips that might help point me in the right direction please let me know. I just want to be able to play games on my console how they were meant to be played. Don't want to have a $500 console just sitting there and be paying $60 a

    I can't connect to xbox live

    it could be that you have a Problem with DNS Servers. In Network Settings you can test public DNS Servers of open DNS or google DNS.

    Google Public DNS IP addresses

    The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:

    8.8.8.8

    8.8.4.4

    The Google Public DNS IPv6 addresses are as follows:

    2001:4860:4860::8888

    2001:4860:4860::8844

    Internet is working fine but xbox live is not

    normally you can do nothing if the Service is unavailable for you. This is a Service Problem of xbox live.

    What you can test is: Use an alternate DNS Server. You can set it in Network Settings of your Router.

    I would try open DNS:

    208.67.222.222

    208.67.220.220

    www.opendns.com/.../opendns-ip-addresses

    This way you get maybe other login Servers of xbox live an then can connect. If you change the DNS Servers in xbox one you should turn your xbox one off for 5 minuets (to delete the cached login servers) and you should restart your router to also delete
    cached Versions of xbox live servers..

    If you turn on your xbox then it will go to the new DNS Servers and maybe you get other xbox one login Servers.

    Hey there Trophic!

    You can do as ROZILLA suggested, this will work as well. However, you need to direct your Xbox Primary DNS to a DNS server. This can not be done by having your Xbox DNS settings set to automatic. The DNS server is your routers IP address or a public DNS
    server. You can open the Terminal window and type "dig" (without quotes). There you will find "Server" followed by its IP address (the router) and port number (#53) listed as well. Like this: ;; SERVER: 192.168.1.1#53(192.168.1.1).

    You do not need to setup manually DHCP, only configure with DHCP. Open Terminal window and type ifconfig en0 (en0=wired, 0=zero). Below your APIPA address (169.254.xxx.xxx) you'll find the IP address for the airport (mine is currently 192.168.2.1). For your
    Xbox IP address you need to type in your inet number but with the last number being one digit higher (e.g. 192.168.2.2).

    You will have a moderate NAT when sharing your internet connection using a Mac.

    If you have DHCP Server on.. Your modem will send your console an IP Address & DNS settings...

    You need to make sure, that both IP Settings & DNS settings are set to automatic.. Otherwise, the console won't connect to your modem etc..

    If you have DHCP Server off.. Your modem won't send your console an IP Address & DNS Settings..

    You need to make sure. that both IP Settings & DNS settings are set to Manual & enter the IP Addresses + DNS Settings..

    I would say, Your IP/DNS settings on your console are wrong & your friend has them both set to Automatic & could connect to Live..

    If you are able to connect to your router then login to your router and find the setting that allows you to place static IP addresses. I am going to guess that your network is in the 192.168.0.0 network so make it like 192.168.1.12. (If your IP scheme is
    192.168.2.0 then enter in 192.168.2.12, etc.) You may or may not have to name it - if you do just call it xbox. If it gives you a checkbox for UPnP make sure to check it.

    On the homepage of your router make sure to write down your router's IP address (gateway) and the primary and secondary DNS servers.

    Once you have done this save the changes and reboot your router.

    Go into the Xbox Network settings and click on your connection and you need to enter the following in Manually:

    IP address: Whatever static IP address you put into your router and called it Xbox.

    Netmask: 255.255.0.0

    Gateway: Whatever IP address your router is

    Primary DNS: The primary DNS server you wrote down from your router

    Secondary DNS: The secondary DNS server you wrote down from your router.

    Windows Server DHCP + XBox Issues.

    The address of 169.xxx.xxx is an APIPA address which means your Xbox is not finding the DHCP server.

    "XBox(s) do not attempt to obtain a dynamic IP address until I test the XBox Live connection, until I test they attempt to use a sell assigend 169.xxx.xxx.1-which is way out of my subnet of 172.16.0/24-with no subnet mask, gateway, or DNS."

    What is your IP address range? When you test Xbox live connection dose it connect? If so dose it appear in the DHCP on the Windows Server?
