Finding IP address list

You will find your ip adress on xbox360 under: Settings -> System -> Network and on Xbox One under Settings -> Network. I hope thats what your looking for.

Your IP address won't really help the police at all so I'm not sure why they're asking for it. It's also not going to be the same thing day in and day out. What Cre4toR2810 is suggesting will give you the console's local IP address but that's quite different
than what the rest of the world sees. You can use a website like
http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to find out what your public IP address is on whatever device you're currently using.

To help you find the IP address on the Xbox One, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

Using your Xbox One controller go to Settings> All Settings> Network> Network settings> Advanced settings.

That is great news!

The IP address that shows up on your console's network settings (169.bla.bla.bla) is a link-local address or Auto-IP. It will do so when requesting an IP address via DHCP server fails. I can think of a numerous of things that could have triggered this problem.
But since this was resolved by simply turning off your console for an hour it would point to fact that the external network adapter was in need for a coffee break or something

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter? black external adapter

Things you have tried:

Is UPnP Enabled? Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT? No

Any Error Codes you encounter: No codes just the IP Address Error message

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Karoo

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

No values

The problem seems to now have resolved itself completely after I left it for an hour and then switched it back on. If you have any ideas why it went wrong, I'd be interested, if not then thank you very much for offering to help
