Need help choosing the right Headsets.

I bought my Xbox One a few days ago and realized my current headset doesn't work with it, because it uses a 2.5mm cable. So I'm thinking about buying a new pair of headphones entirely, as the ones I use don't have the best sound quality.

My question, though, is what kind of headset do I need? I've been looking at both 3.5mm cable headsets and usb-driven headsets. If I buy a usb headset, will I still be able to chat as well? I know there are some Xbox One exclusive headsets with the "Stereo
Headset Adapter" included, but will I be able to chat as well then, or only audio?

After my experience I will never recommend anything Turtle Beach

I had a turtle beach X11 headset and the left speaker died after a year, ok no problem
In November I purchased the PX4's because they are Dolby digital 5.1
I used them 3 times and the transmitter died
Contacted turtle beach and started the RMA process. I shipped them to Turtle Beach locally and they received them 2 days later . But never entered them into their system for another 2 weeks. I emailed them numerous times. Now they have them, they said I should receive a replacement by no later than December 24 to be shipped out. I received that email on Novemeber 28th, so almost another month before they even ship a replacement. Now I emailed them yesterday with my distaste for their service and they said they are all out of stock in Canada, and will have to ship from USA which will take another couple of weeks

Just terrible
I our based these new for $170 and used them 3 times and have had nothing since..... Arrrgh

This is all you need. The Xbox One controller converts any headset to stereo, and this comes with the Stereo Headset Adapter needed for the Xbox One controller.

USB headsets won't work. Unless they are simply powered by USB and use optical for the sound.

If you want fully wireless, there are currently only 2 options, the Stealth 500X and the Elite 800X, both from Turtle beach. If you want surround sound, those two also provide that along with the ASTRO A40's with a Mixamp or the ASTRO A50's. Both the ASTRO's
will need to be tethered to the controller for chat.

There are then many options if you're not too fussed about having surround or wireless. Anything that includes some kind of Xbox One Stereo headset adapter will be fine. Anything with a stereo headset adapter will also allow you to chat as well as hear game
sounds. They have a control that balances between chat and game.
