Need Gamertag help from Enforcement team

I was told by a customer support rep during a live chat to seek help in the forums from the Enforcement Team about changing my Gamertag. Because it is MY WIFE'S FULL NAME... How exactly does this work? why is there a charge to change it when I didn't even
choose the name? and Is there a way to get a one time FREE name change given my situation?

Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

delete your profile hard shutdown your console

Reboot then redownload your profile

 

The enforcement team do not read these forums.

The only time you get a free gamertag change is either when you start your account & change it from a generated tag to a personal one or you are given a random tag for free if you are issued a forced name change because your tag breaks the code of conduct.

While it's recommended that your tag does not contain your name it's not against the rules so you will not get the tag changed for free,you will have to pay to change it.

 

Ok thanks for the info. I tried to post to their forum but it didn't seem to work. Figured I'd try a public forum. Don't know why customer service rep told me to seek help in the forum rather than just helping me or simply saying NO.

 

Becuase that forums is only for inquiry of enforcement action not for free name changes

Your wife or you had to have chosen the name since its a personalized name it is not recommended but it isn't a security risk as you need a lot more information

We are not going to get into the why they give that information as we are not support

Post a new thread, for the subject post that the gamertag is your wife's full name, they may change your gamertag for you, they may give you a gamer tag change, it is up to them, the other thing you can try is to call Customer support directly, they can
escalate your case to tier 3 and have the gamertag changed or give you a free gamer tag change, in the even that they decide to do a force gamertag change it will be a default xbox gamertag and you will have to pay to change it to something that you want.

As already mentioned by ngocphi that forum is not for asking for gamertag changes & the op has already contacted customer support.

Unfortunately customer support have a habit of telling people to post here when they don't know the answer to someones problem.

Op has already been given the solution to their question,customer support will not give them a free name change.

Its still not a violation to find someone even by their complete name you would need a lot more info to find one person in the 50million people on live and the billions in the world

Not to mention a name isn't a login info

So it is not a violation to share your name, it's just not recommended.

 

When I chose my gamer tag it didn't say not to use my real name it didn't say it wasn't rye amended all it said was to pick a gamer tag I never new people would see it but they did because I never got any information on what to do what do you think that
means

 

That is because of the freedom of choice is on you

It is not against the rules to use your personal name

You will have to pay for a name change

 

Actually it is against the rules to use your name on your gamertag, contact support, they'll be able to issue you a gamertag change.

As already mentioned several times,it is not against the rules to have your name in your gamertag,it's just recommended not to.
