Need for speed underground 2 not working on xbox 360

So I bought a copy of nfs underground 2 for the original xbox recently(knowing it’s supposed to be backwards compatible). It runs on my xbox 360 but there’s a big problem with it, when I get to the main menu, after sitting on it for about 3 seconds, the
screen goes pitch black and all sound stops, however, when I press the xbox home button I can hear it open the menu. Also when I eject the disc it does actually bring me back to the dashboard. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the disc, seeing as the disc
almost has no scratches altogether, but I’m a bit disappointed that I can’t play it :/

Please don't bump old threads. If no Original Xbox games are working, then it's most likely a hard drive issue.

Thanks for reaching out to us! We looked into this and did not see Need for Speed Underground 2 on our

Official Backward Compatible List. This game was announced to be listed in 2005 but it appears that it was removed from the list. Now, if you did see this listed please provide the link where you saw said information that way we are able to reference it
in the future.

Another option would be to try another disc for Need for Speed in case there was an issue with the disc itself. It might be that the disc has some scratches or that it is dirty. Trust me, that gets me every time.

Considering, as I said, it gets to the main menu of the game, meaning it must be backwards compatible, otherwise that wouldn’t happen, that’s a bit random to say. Also considering you linked the xbox one backwards compatible list, that doesn’t really help
seeing as, like I said, I’m trying to play it on xbox 360

Sorry for any confusion. Yes, I did see where you put that you were able to access the Main Menu however, you also said that it crashed after 3 seconds in. Meaning there is a problem with the game. That is also why I included to clean the disc, or check
it for scratches, and to try another disc.

Another thing, I know it may seem confusing but I included our backward compatible list because it also has Xbox 360 and Original Xbox games listed there. In case I was wrong, I did ask where you had seen this game was recently added. I understand that things
are always being updated and want to make sure we are all on the same page. Ultimately, I was just trying to clarify if this game is part of our backward compatibility list.

I thought maybe it might have something to do with how the resolution changes from the “press start” screen to a full screen view at the mode select screen, not 100% sure about it though
