Need audio/video adapter similar to the Xbox360 :(

Hi, i just discovered the Xbone didn't come with a audio/video adapter similar to the one that came with the 360, only an HDMI cable. I don't know the name of that old adapter, but i need one just like it. I prefer listening to Xbox on my wireless headphones,
but my HDTV doesn't have any audio output except for a digital out, and my stereo system doesn't have any digital in.

On the 360 i used the stereo output of that adapter (the red & white females) to connect to my stereo system, and then to my wireless headphones. The HDMI was only used for video.

Where can i find a similar adapter for the Xbone? Does Microsoft sell one?

    :)

Use Xbox 360S with DVI monitor

    Hey cclloyd,

While there is no Microsoft brand adapters, you can find HDMI to VGA adapters online or at a local tech store. Best Buy might have them too. But that would only give you video. For audio, I know there are HDMI splitters that split HDMI cords into the Audio
and Video. But then you would need another adapter to go from HDMI to your standard aux sound port. I do not know if there is such a thing. Basically, it can be done, but you would need a bunch of adapters.

What you could do is you could do the HDMI to VGA for the video. For the audio, get an Xbox audio adapter. That will give you the Red and White Audio ports, and a Digital Optical Audio port. Then get an adapter that will turn those Red and White ports into
a Standard Aux headphone plug (which is the 3.5mm connector you are talking about I think). You can find those at a radio shack or Best Buy. That will get you the audio and the 1080p video if you get the adapter that allows it and your monitor supports it.

So it will be something like this.

    _________________________________________________________

    Video

    Xbox> HDMI cable> HDMI - VGA/DVI (whichever one you prefer)> Monitor

    _________________________________________________________

    Audio

Xbox> Xbox audio adapter> Red and White Audio Cables > Red and White audio cables - Standard Auxillary (headphone plug basically)> Monitor.

    ________________________________________________________

If I confused you or anything you need clarity on, just ask.

When I say Red and White audio cables, I am referring to Composite cables with the red, white, and yellow plugs which used to be standard before HDMI and Componet.

    Xbox 360 E Optical Output ???

The Turtle Beach adapter will solve this problem. It basically splits the HDMI signal into optical audio and HDMI video.

HDMI carries both audio and video, so the Turtle Beach adapter basically helps give you the audio connection separately. It can also be used to hook up a sound bar or surround sound system (what i have).

Need audio/video adapter similar to the Xbox360 :(

This won't help for the stereo system, but by using a chat adapter you can plug any headphones straight into the controller using a 3.5mm jack - no extra cables needed between the headset and console/TV/stereo system.

There's no official audio/video adapter for the Xbox One, but there may be some 3rd party ones though performance may vary with those.

I can sort of connect my xbox 360 my monitor

You need the thin AV audio adapter that comes with the original HDMI AV kit. You can usually find used adapters on eBay or perhaps even at GameStop. The adapter provides left/right audio as well as optical audio while enabling the HDMI port for video.

Devices plugged into the AV port determine what video output the 360 uses. Wedging a regular AV cable with video into the AV port, alongside an HDMi cable, confuses the 360, disabling HDCP. This may be causing the monitor sync issue you're experiencing.

    trouble with headphones

thanks for your help turns out i need the old style audio adapter plenty of helpful videos on you tube

    HDMI Cable Trouble ...

Analog and HDMI video cannot be output at the same time. The only AV port device that fits in the console when an HDMI cable is attached is the HDMI AV kit audio adapter. That adapter's no longer needed as the 360 S has an optical out port.

If conventional left/right analog audio is required, use a digital to analog audio converter.
