Need an option to put console into controller sync mode from guide/power menu

Try Booting into safe mode.

1: First, you need to completely turn off your Xbox

2: Now hold the Sync button on the console and press the Power button (Keep hold of the Sync button until Safe Mode opens and you will also hear a beep)

3. You will now have the different Safe Mode options that we mentioned above that you can choose from (you will need to use the arrows on your controller to navigate the options)

Navigate to the "Profile & system" tab on the left-hand side of the guide.

Select "Settings" at the bottom of the tab.

From the "Settings" menu, select "General."

Scroll down to "Power mode & startup" and select it.

In the "Power mode & startup" menu, select "Power options."

Toggle off "Turn on Quick Resume."

Hi there, Jim! If you're asking if your Xbox will install games and updates while your console is powered down, the answer is YES! To do that, your console will need to be in "Instant On" mode instead of "Energy Saver" which puts the console fully to
sleep (off) instead of standby.

To turn this mode on, you will need to press Menu on your controller, then go to Settings --> Power & Startup. Under "Power Options," you can choose "Instant On" mode, which will allow your console to check for updates while powered down.

Also, in this same Settings menu, you should see a box or option for "Automatically download updates." Make sure this is selected, and all should be well!

In this "Instant On" mode, when you install a game remotely (via Smartglass or Xbox.com) your console will wake up and begin installing the item you've chosen to download. Also, if you begin to install a digital download, but turn off your console before
it is finished, the Xbox will continue to install that title, then fully power down when the install is complete.

Kindly manage your power mode and switch it to energy-saving mode.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power mode & start-up.

Select from the Power mode drop-down menu to change the setting.

After that perform a powercycle to sync the changes that were made.

As it turns out, for a lot of affected users that are encountering the Error Code 0x82d40004 on Xbox One, this problem ended up being caused by a power mode & startup setting. Keep in mind that this is not the only problem that is being caused by the energy-saving features implemented on Xbox One.

If this scenario is applicable and the power mode is set to Energy-saving, you should be able to fix the issue by changing the option to Instant-On.

A lot of affected users have reported that the issue was entirely resolved after they enforced this change. Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to do this:

From the main dashboard menu of your Xbox One console, press the guide menu on your controller and wait for it to appear.

Once the guide menu (on the left) becomes visible, use it to select the Settings tab (gear icon), then access the Settings entry.

Once you’re inside the settings menu, select the General tab from the vertical menu on the left, then move over to the right section and access the Power mode & startup options menu.

Inside the Power mode & startup menu, access the drop-down menu associated with Power mode and change it from Energy-saving to Instant-on.

After you do this, simply perform a regular console restart and wait for the next startup to complete.

Attempt to launch the same game that was previously triggering the 0x82d40004 error code and see if the issue has been resolved.
