need advice on xbox live family account management on xbox 360

Ok, this is tricky to explain so first some background . Several years ago before xbox live had family accounts i set up multiple accounts on my 360 . My children were young then , and their accounts were created with my email / billing information. Then
came along family accounts and the conversion did not go well , spent many hours on the phone with support trying to get it setup and correct . Never was quite right , as my oldest sons account seems to be the main head of family account and my main account
is a family member. So now he want to move out for college . I can change all his account info to his email , his billing and then he could "Takeover" that account and get his saves , right ? But how do I get my account as the family admin , takeover
the live family subscription , and how do we not lose my DLC ( is all the family DLC tied to that main account ? ) that main account ( technically of his or I would like him to take it ) also seems tied to my youngest daughters office365 subscription
    - probably because its the same email - which i could cancel and reset up .

So the conundrum is how to relinquish that account to him to have to take his saves , and reset up the family dynamic without losing all DLC and subscriptions. any thoughts on best approach for this ?

his live account is LTC Cupcake, mine

    thank you

    doug twyman

    :)

    How do I accomplish this

Xbox live family pack was discontinued on the 360 2 years ago.

Each account on the 360 needs their own gold sub to play online now.

1 Gold Account for the whole family

    Bit of good news,
I have just been reading the new Xbox Mag that quote:
'One Xbox Live Gold Account for the whole house, so no need for upgrading the whole family

Nice touch and will save some family's money for all the kids to be able to go Multiplayer need advice on xbox live family account management on xbox 360 :)

Your son moving his account shouldn't affect to much of anything really. Since the family plan has been discontinued, each account would need it's own subscription if everyone wants to play online.

DLC is tied to the gamertag that purchased it as well as the console it was purchased on. The console license is what allows all profiles to access the content. Your son can play the content on any other console as long as he is signed into Live. However,
if he does a license transfer it will remove the licenses from your family console and the other profiles will not be able to access the content.

How to change my main gamertag to one of the four i have on my family pack

If you're apart of a family package you can have the main account or you yourself can remove yourself from the Family Account and you will lose your Gold status and it will be made into it's own account that you will need to pay for yourself. You would need
to have the Windows LIVE ID for the gamertag that you wish you remove from the family pack and login with that gamertag on your XBOX 360. If that tag is not on the XBOX 360 then you will need to recover the tag onto the XBOX 360. Instructions on how to have
the main account remove a secondary account from the family pack are located here > support.xbox.com/.../managing-family-members..

    Gamertag

Sorry but you will have to pay like everyone else to change your gamertag.

You only get a forced name change if your gamertag violates the code of conduct which yours does not.

You can set communications to friends only & also set up parental settings for your kids.
