One word of... advice... I'd give, Bluffin. I didn't really like the paddles when I tried them because they were so easy to accidentally tap. They're pretty sensitive. But I decided to tough it out until I got used to them.

It took some time, but now I can't imagine not having them. It really is worth the effort to work through getting used to them (IMO). Going into 'panic mode' and accidentally hitting a paddle was the one problem that took the longest to overcome... but even
that's pretty much a non issue now.

Best way I found to adjust to them is to add 1 pair at a time, then play using them for awhile. Just take long enough that you're not "blundering around" with them, but not so long that you're 'set' to using them... then add the other pair. I added the rear
paddles first, then the front ones. Have fun with it!

Thanks A Blue Illusion, I'll certainly try it that way when I get it, if you didn't guess I have decided to get one. Mainly for for the build quality, even if I can't get along with the paddles at least it won't feel like it's going to break every time I
    use it.

  3. Is the quality really that much better? I'm using an original One controller and the casing only flexes when I really try to twist it. Just how are you guys manhandling your own?

As a rule, I don't manhandle any of my equipment intentionally... doing so is asking to test limits and find them. That being said, I've never really been aware of myself being hard on equipment... either by my own observation or someone else's.

If I were to guess, I'd say that I am probably a good bit easier on my controllers than your 'average' gamer... but that would only be by my own assessment.

Just me, but I find the overall feel of the Elite to be much more solid and not just because it's heavier due to the steel accessories... because it just feels put together better to me.

Just for reference, my OG controller was still working and in good condition when I 'retired' it... with just a bit of a 'sticky' L thumb stick starting to develop. It had ~3700hrs on it. The only other thing I noticed was that it did have just a bit of
the 'loose side panel, or easily flexed creaky' feel some have described, but I didn't find it intrusive or annoying while gaming. In fact, I barely noticed it while gaming at all... unless... I "tried to twist it".

My Elite has ~480hrs on it so far and it has always felt [much more than the OG] solid as a rock to me. I wouldn't even consider trying to twist it... but on that note, the paddles may actually be a deterrent to those who unintentionally twist on their controllers.
They're in a position that would discourage doing so, I think.

i don't believe that i'm mishandling my controller, but with the standard X1 controllers, in "white Knuckle" moments, i can feel the panels touching the palm of my hands are flexing and shifting, and in general, the rest of the plastic feels thin and cheap,
but again i had no complaints on the actual build quality and feel that the standard X1 controller was better than the 360 because i was going through 360 controller about once a year, and i used the X1 controller for 2 years and it still works perfectly with
    almost no signs of wear.

You can't really compare them chalk and cheese, where does the manhandle the old ones come into it? , I love the standard controller. @Bluffin. The great thing about the paddles, sticks, d-pad is how easy it is to change them, really simple magnetic system
    that's works like a charm.!

I don't really notice the holes so it's not really a big deal to me. Feels fine. My only complaint with the controller is that you can't turn the light completely off.

I'll just add, one thing that I really like about it is the weight. I know that sounds weird, but once you're used to the weight in your hands it feels weird going back to a normal controller, haha.

To be honest, I haven't even bothered to really go in-depth with the features of it as the main reason I bought it was for longevity as I got drift on my day one controller which has never happened to me in my life so I thought it wouldn't take too many
$80 controllers to equal the price on an elite one.

^ yep I know exactly what you mean about the weight, it just feels nicely balanced. Then you have the nice textures of the top,and bottom of the body, the bottom grip texture is mint. I use the hair trigger switches more than I thought I would for shooters.

I love mine, have had it for a few weeks now. Build quality is excellent. No drifting, no stuck buttons, no issues at all anymore. The paddles will take getting used to. I took them off and still love the controller without them.

Later sometime, I will put them on and put an effort in to getting used to them. I know how handy they would be if I could do that.

Even having said all that, I do think the price is a little on the steep side. I may not have purchased one if it weren't for the terrible build quality of the stock controllers.

I have 2 launch controllers. Both left sticks drift. One controller the RB button doesn't have the "Click". (It works fine, but without the click it makes it awkward to use) The other controller has a super weirdly sensitive d-pad when you press right on
it. I'll press it and it'll actually click 2 or 3 times like a turbo button. Makes it frustrating to navigate menus or make character selections, etc.

I had issues with these controllers since 4 months after owning them, and I take care of my stuff. (No other gamers in my household)

When I first started using it, I thought the weight was something that would become an issue during long sessions and that my hands would tire of it. Wrong! I agree on the balance
as well... which is probably the reason the weight is not the issue I expected it to be.

If you like the hair trigger switches... you should consider playing around with the trigger dead zones...

Well I bought one, and well... What a buy. Granted it is expensive for a controller, but compared to the price for the normal one, I think it's worth it. Only managed a few hours game play on division and managed to remap lb and rb to the paddles, does take
a bit of getting used to but seemed easier and more natural towards the end. Here's hoping I don't have to go back to the old one any time soon lol.

I didn't realize the build quality was much better. I would get 1 just for that. The normal controllers quality is the one thing I dislike about this console. They feel cheap.
