Need a new controller, is the elite worth the extra cash?

The left stick has started to drift, and random disconnections are becoming frequent now so it's time for an upgrade. Is the elite worth the extra cash or should I just buy a normal controller? all opinions welcome and thanks in advance.

It would depend on the price difference between the two console but don't forget the Elite console comes with the great Elite controller.

 

i am a fan of the Elite Controller, while i never had an issue with the build quality of my day one controller, i will not go back to a regular controller, the build quality is much higher, it is heavier, no flex in the body, interchangeable thumbsticks,
and the button paddles are really top notch, IMO.

the only negative i have for the Elite controller is that i use the Play & Charge kit, and plugging in the USB cable is too tight.

so for me, the extra cost was totally worth the product and i would go out and buy another one if it broke today.

 

My opinion echoes Zero's. Worth the investment. It took me a bit to get used to the paddles... but after I did, I can't imagine having to move my thumb off the stick to reach for a button when it would be much more advantageous to keep my thumb on it and
tap a paddle. The ability to completely remap any button to a paddle (or any other button) is almost worth the cost of the controller on its own... the quality of the build on top of that makes it well worth it IMO.

 

Thanks for your input, I've been looking for days now, and as you say if nothing else it's worth it for the build quality. But I can't get round that price tag, or more importantly can I get the wife to agree with that price tag.

 

I got mine as part of the Elite bundle. Worth every penny if bought as a stand alone. Superb bit of kit!

 

As others have said the build quality is far superior. No flexing creaky body and better shoulder buttons. I rarely even use the paddles or the app and find it worth the money. Buy it if you want it. If you have job and take care of your responsibilities
then you shouldn't have a problem with what your wife says. You can always trade in your old controllers and get some money off. I think GameStop is giving around $30 for them.

 

@PICK Yes I have a job and pay my way and tbh she's always been cool about letting me get what I want. You say you play without the paddles, do the holes annoy you when playing, remember reading somewhere that a few people complained it was uncomfortable
and can cause blisters

 

I didn't realize the build quality was much better. I would get 1 just for that. The normal controllers quality is the one thing I dislike about this console. They feel cheap.

 

I have had one for 2 weeks now. TBH the first night I thought I wasted my money on it. After about 2 days I don't know how I raced or played a FPS without it. Love it, just wish there were a few design options you could pick from.

 

I like it but don't really think it's worth the money. The bumper buttons are a lot better than on the normal controller though

 

You don't notice any discomfort with the paddles off, at all, if anyone is getting blisters there probably using it as some sort of sex toy....

 

^Ewwww... Well, you can adjust the vibration of all the motors/triggers independently from anywhere between completely turned off to... OMG? lol

 

It's the build quality on the normal controllers that i don't like either. Just feels like it it's ready to break at any time. And the elite is supposed to be so much better. Ummm Genchy i'll definitely not be using it like that lol... and hope the images
i now have go very soon. But glad to know i can use it without paddles with no problems at all. Much appreciate the input all
