NBA 2k23 for Xbox Series X|S - Says not compatible

Last week, I purchased NBA 2k23 with a friend I fake share with. He has had the next gen console, I was on current gen. We purchased the package that included the game for both current and next gen. At the time, I didn’t realize the games and story were different. After finding that out, I decided to finally upgrade to next gen console. I just purchased a “Microsoft Xbox One S 500GB.” I just got it delivered today, signed in, set up my gamesharing, and now while trying to download NBA 2k23 for Xbox Series X|S, it’s giving me a message saying it’s not compatible, that I don’t have the Xbox Series X/S, and that I can download 2k23 for Xbox One. Is the Microsoft Xbox One S not the next gen console? Or does anyone know how to get around this. The only reason I purchased this console was to play the next gen version of 2k. Thank you.

Yes, Xbox Series X and S consoles are backwards compatible with Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Xbox games.

But keep in mind that as you own the Series S, you need to have NBA 2K23 digitally purchased in your account

Yes I double check that, this version is for Xbox one and x/s. The game is nba 2k23

It's better to start your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's...however, no, there is no upgrade bundle for that game (far as I can tell)...you would need to purchase the next gen version

Joseph, can you help me? I purchased PGA Tour 2K23 for XBOX One.

I then bought a Xbox Series X console. Can my game be upgraded to Series X so I can play it on the new console with better graphics etc. Thanks.
