Naughty Boy Strikes Again

Sorry...this is a mom posting. Please no negative comments and Please forgive me if I don't understand something you tell me. Im just looking for a bit of help and I want to know what can be done with a Jealous Vindictive Teenage boy that is is manipulating
my 8 yr old child. He had my son to log into his game at his home and then after he leaves he is going on to his account and sending trashy sexual messages to my sons friends. Its so bad and strange and then Lying about it and then filed a complaint on my
son?

I know this seems like, yeah right mom! Your kids the problem..and yes my son is no angel, But I caught this 14 yr old little stinker red handed, so I was with my son during the time these messages were sent, and I can guarantee my son did not do this.
He had no access to his account. He may have been logged on but he was with me the entire time.

I'm very certain of the messaging. My son only writes mostly one word replies, maybe 3 words occasionally at the most when messaging other players. But, This terrible teen is writing paragraphs which I saw, on my sons account. He even took this a step
further and writes a confession as my son, to doing the bad deeds. Saying, I am sorry I did that etc...Totally setting my son up and I saw this happen with my own eyes! Us moms don't normally believe it when kids say they didn't do it, but I'm certain here.

This has gone on in the past to him from the same child and I've had about enough of his bullying. He is jealous as he has no or few friends in the neighborhood. Most kids hang out here at our home and its too bad, he won't be. Im not well equipped on
the controller to type a complaint. Is there somewhere I can send a message or have a conversation with Xbox about the situation. We think the password is changed now.

I have tried to speak with the parents and they won't reply and just allow him to take no responsibility and look the other way. Since I don't know much about this venue and his dad set up the account I struggle with where to begin on how to make this right.

After all of the advice in this thread, I would also recommend being really careful to watch your son so that he doesn't message other people and share his account log in with others. This, in itself, can result in his account being banned as sharing account
information is against the ToS. And also, maybe keep the Xbox in a common area in the house where you can keep an eye on him when he is on it, like in the living room etc. Good luck.

Also, you can the change the password on your son's account via the internet. Here's how:

Change your Microsoft account password from an Internet-enabled device

Here's how to change the password for your Microsoft account from an Internet-enabled device such as a PC or tablet:

Sign in using your Microsoft account email address and password.
From the Home page, go to Security & privacy, and then select Change password.
You may be asked to verify that you are the account owner by receiving a security code via text or email and then entering it online.
Under Password, select Change your password. Follow the instructions and then click Save.

Once you've made the change, you'll receive a notification at your existing "security information" email address or phone number. This is a precaution in case someone else made the change. If that happens, you can cancel the change by following the instructions
provided in your notification.

Why does this teen have access to your sons account?

Step 1 is change the password.

Step 2 would be to teach your son about not sharing account credentials and this as an example of what can go wrong when you do.

This is very worrying as I have an 8-year-old myself.

I highly recommend family settings, even if you do not wish to play yourself, this would enable you to have more control over your sons account and change settings as you wish.

If that option isn't for you, then i suggest you block and report this person then change the settings on your sons account so that only his actual friends can message him.

Not sure I have much to add as the other Ambassadors covered most of the advice and recommendations, but as a parent myself I wanted you to know you're taking the appropriate steps doing what you've done so far and encourage you to keep on this. Your kid
has learned an important lesson here, and that's a good thing. I hope this whole thing left an impression on him and that this results in him being safer and more careful in the future.
