  1. NAT Type Keeps changing.

So, I got an Xbox Series X yesterday. Got it connected to the internet and I notice that the NAT type is set to moderate. If I click on test NAT, I can get it to switch to open, though this seems to be only temporary for if I do a restart/full shutdown of the console, or several hours pass by while it is set to stand by mode, the NAT switches back to moderate. Now, I'm not sure if that's due to the console or my internet connection (it is connected via Ethernet cable to the router).

I already went into the router settings and made sure the UPnP and Zero Config are enabled. I also checked my router firewalls and they are set to low. I also attempted to do a direct port forwarding and static IP but that seemed to have made no difference at all for the NAT. I also tried to get a wifi connection but that seemed to have no change at all in respect to the NAT, so I switched back to a wired connection. At this point, I'm only testing the NAT to get it from moderate to open before logging into any games, but it is only a temporary solution and would like to get a more permanent one.

Not sure if this is also relevant, but if I go to the advanced settings and try to change the IP settings, it informs me that it is connected via IPv4 protocols. Could the be due to the cable I'm using perhaps?

    P.S.

Other than having some matchmaking issues while under strict/moderate NAT types, can this also affect save files in the cloud/local? The previous xbox I had (an Xbox One) started with NAT type issues similar to what I'm experiencing now and then got errors with saving game files, forcing me to delete local saves and resync them every few hours and sometimes minutes.

    :)

    NAT Type Keeps changing.

    Greetings alan valadez27,

Nat Type is always a tricky thing to deal with. The majority of the issues that happen with it are based on the communication your system is having with your router/modem. Very few instances we have seen it can also come from your ISP.

You can reference our article here for how to troubleshoot NAT, but it sounds like you may have tried most of the items we suggested.

One recommendation I might suggest, IPv4 is an acceptable connection protocol for routers, but there is an updated IPv6 that might help you out. Check with your router, specifically in the admin settings, if this can be enabled. I would do so an see if it helps.

As per your PS question. If it involves a network connection, NAT type can have some type of effect. I haven't directly heard or seen where a moderate NAT can cause issues with your saved game files, but a strict NAT type can affect your network traffic in odd ways.

    NAT Type/Connection Keeps Changing

"Update", turning off the port triggering and DMZ leaves me with one system connected perfectly and the other with a "Strict" NAT type, it varies as to which system it is, seems to be a coin toss when the connection is tested.

    NAT Type/Connection Keeps Changing

There was a listed firmware upgrade (3rd party) for my specific router but after I installed it my router barely worked, so I had to go back to the original upgrade. ***This is from a previous post suggestion, I am checking the ones listed on this post now****

I am still stuck with one good connection and one "strict" connection. My son is able to play minecraft with his friends on the "strict" connected system without any issues, not sure what it would be like on COD or something a more connection dependent.

I have a second router still in the box, a Linksys E900/Wireless - N300 Router, any chance I just need to swap them out?
