    New internet from where I previously was and now my NAT type is now moderate. I'm paranoid now because I'll feel my bad connection is because of this. Is it possible to change your NAT type to open permanently?

    how to change the nat type

    Are you wired or wireless? Wired through a ethernet cable always gives best open nat in my experience. However in the past when I have been wireless and had nat issues I found that testing the connection in settings resolved the issue. But I would recommend
    using ethernet if possible.

    you need to get into your router setting by looking a routers home website it will tell you defaults to access your routers setting and port trigger your router, here is a link that tells you what to do, also make sure your MTU is set to 1500, here is link:

    support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live

    that should fix things.
