  1. NAT type almost always Moderate. Making it difficult to play GTA V with friends. BT Home Hub ...

So after getting a BT Home Hub 5 I have had problems with my NAT type where I had none before.

It almost constantly says its moderate and this is causing problems with party chat (where my friends either lag or I simply cant hear them) or makes it difficult to connect to games with them.

I have tried pressing both bumpers and triggers on the test multiplayer connection screen. While this does OCCASIONALLY switch my NAT too open, it rarely actually helps.

I have tried to port forward various different ports but every single time I try it says:

'The number you've entered for one of the ports is invalid.

Please try again using a number from 0 to 65535.'

Any help is appreciated here. I have no idea what to do.

    :)

  2. Moderate Nat on Xbox One ?

I am having the same issue with my NAT type, it's stuck on Moderate. I have tried restarting my router, switching energy mode on the Xbox One. I am using the BT Home Hub 3, any advice? I've had one day of an open connection and that's it, straight back to
    moderate

2 Xbox ones with open nat not possible?

    Hi

I think I have same problem. I can party chat on xboxone no.1 downstairs, but cant party chat on xbox one no.2 upstairs.

BT home hub is IPV4 (IPV6 not available at this time with my BT provider).

NAT type for both is moderate.

When I apply the DMZ setting for one of the Xboxs its NAT type goes to unavailable.

I don't seem to be able to find a fix.

Looks like BT hub doesn't support two xbox party chat at once.

Forgot to mention, on detailed NAT information it says:

Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT.

You own one of the worst routers ever created.

I owned one and it has terrible UPnP support. So much so that I binned mine and bought a new router.

To start with it has a feature called smart setup. You should disable smart setup as it causes all sorts of problems with xbox live.

Also this router has the most pathetic UPnP support I have ever seen in a router.

For a start if you also own a 360 your NAT problems will be because the routers UPnP is so poor that there will be conflicts between the 360 and xbox one as they both require port 3074 to have open NATs.

Also if you play Call of Duty, Destiny or any other Activision games you will get moderate NATs in those as well because the router isn't compatible with Demonware port mapping which is the UPnP used by activision games. meaning it doesn't even try to open
    the required ports.

So if you own a 360 and still play it online you will have to sacrifice the NAT in the the 360 due to the horrible UPnP support and the fact that you can't forward the same port to 2 devices at the same time.

If you don't own a 360 any more then you will have to use port forwarding to forward port 3074 to the x1.

If you play any activision games you will need to forward port 3076 for COD and port 1200 for Destiny and Diablo.

Before you can do any port forwarding though you will have to factory reset the home hub because for some reason just powering it off doesn't clear the UPnP port table which is why you are getting a port conflict while trying to set up port forwarding.

  6. I do still own a 360 but I very rarely use it. Its also not connected to the router through any of my ethernet cables I use for my consoles. If I have to sacrifice the online of my 360 for my Xbox One then so be it.

    I have disabled smart setup.

The next step is to factory reset the router I presume. What will happen when I do this? Will it cause any problems with the devices that are connected to the router?

So then I need to port forward port 3074 to the Xbox One. I'm unsure of how to do this though. If you could tell me what I need to fill into these that would be great.

    Game/application name:

    Copy an existing game/application: Yes/No?

    Protocol: UDP/TCP?

    Port range: [blank]-[blank]

    Translate to: [blank]-[blank]

You say consoles as to suggest you don't just own an xbox one and 360.

Exactly what consoles do you own?

It's not just xbox that needs port 3074. activision games on playstation like COD and Destiny also need port 3074.

Anyway in the game/application name section there should be a rule for xbox live. Associate this rule with the xbox one and that will forward port 3074.

Anyway I have just found an old post of mine on the BT forums with step by step instructions on port forwarding. Just use that guide to forward port 3074. If you play COD or destiny you will also have to forward port 3076 for COD and 1200 for Destiny.

here is a link to that post

Ok bear in mind that if you ever buy an activision game on ps4, you will get a moderate NAT in that game as all activision games on ps4(and ps3) require port 3074.

I have no idea if the Wii U uses this port for anything though.

It's because of this and also the fact that my 360 got a moderate NAT that my hh5 was ditched

    I just remembered something.

You might have to switch off UPnP in the home hubs settings as if I remember correctly the xbox 360 UPnP was overwriting the port forwarding for the xbox one causing the NAT to go moderate again the next day.

Although if you never connect your 360 up again you may avoid this

  13. NAT type almost always Moderate. Making it difficult to play GTA V with friends. BT Home Hub ...

So I did as you said and reset to factory settings then port forded 3074 by linking up xbox live and my xbox one then adding it. After I clicked add it just said 'applying' for about a minute then it took me to a glitchy version of the page. Now when I try
to get on my router setting by typing in my IP in the URL bar it just doesnt connect to the page. My NAT is now open though but I dont know how well it has worked and I'd like to be able to access that page...
