Nat switches from Xbox one to 360.

Just an extra.

I switched on my 360 for a bit,

Then switch my xbox 1 on which is in power saving mode and again the NAT is moderate.

The 360 UPnP is forcefully overwriting the port forwarding settings so it makes no difference whether port 3074 is forwarded or not.

The xbox one just doesn't try to open any ports at all. I notice that if I perform a multiplayer test then press all 4 triggers it will sometimes open the nat but this appears to be temporary.

I have a Dlink DGL-5500 with an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One in the house. I got this router specifically for it's multiple console support and I have had Open NAT with it on both systems. However I noticed today that the Xbox One had reverted to Strict NAT,
and this thread was the tip that allowed me to fix it. I had switched for Energy Saving to Instant On. Switching this back to Energy Saving fixe the problem. Not ideal, but a workaround for the moment.

I tried these steps and my NAT switch from strict to open but changed back to strict the next day.

So after a lot of irritating trial and error I finally got it working.

What I ended up doing was removing the public ip from the xbox 360. I got a router and assigned the public ip to my router instead then disable the firewall to it.

On my router I set up port triggering for the ports that I listed in my previous post. Once I did that my NAT immediately switched to open. I wanted to make sure both systems did in fact have open NAT types so I started both my xbox one and the 360 and
connected them both to xbox live. The xbox one tells you from the network settings what your NAT is, the 360 as far as I can tell doesn't directly show you like the one, but when you retest the connection on the 360 it will tell you once it's connected that
you have a strict NAT.

I started my xbox one up first and it said OPEN right away, I then connected with the 360 and I didn't get the strict NAT warning I did before. I checked the one again just to make sure and both systems had an open NAT. I haven't had any issues with chat
and getting disconnected from games anymore.

One question though, why wouldn't port forwarding have worked? I initially tried that but for whatever reason I still had a strict NAT.

OK so after you do port forwarding and DMZ. Go on your Xbox One. Go to the spot you set up you static IP and you'll see wehre it says Alternate MAC Address....click it...then click clear. Your Xbox ONE will restart and you should have a open NAT afterward.
Just did this last night and it was working for me.





EDIT: On a side note though, after I was able to switch my Xbox ONE from a Moderate to an Open NAT. My 360 now shows a strict NAT. Something I'm still working on fixing when I get off work today.
