NAT switches between Open and Strict

What Country/State/Province do you live in? Illinois, USA

Modem brand & model number: **** Gateway Model dg860p2

Router brand & model number: None

How many 360 and One consoles are connected to this router?: 3

Wired or wireless (for each console): Xbox One - Wired, Xbox 360
    - Wireless, Xbox 360 - Wireless

Things you have tried: DMZ, Port Forwarding

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown - Yes

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? No - NAT will sometime show Open, and at other times Strict

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): New Wave Communications -
    http://www.newwavecom.com/

The console I am trying to get a constant open NAT on is the Xbox One, I have given the console a static IP, and currently I am port forwarding these ports.

    • Port 88 (UDP)
    • Port 3074 (UDP & TCP)
    • Port 53 (UDP & TCP)
    • Port 80 (TCP)
    • Port 500 (UDP)
    • Port 3544 (UDP)
    • Port 4500 (UDP)
      • For Chat/Party/Matchmaking, try forwarding/triggering Port 16000 (UDP & TCP).
      • For Kinect/Skype/Video issues, try forwarding/triggering Port 1863 (UDP & TCP).
      • Xbox One seems to use Port 3075
For the most part I can play game no problem, but for some reason my Xbox One will not keep a consistent NAT type. It will sometimes show as being open, which it should be since it is the only one of the xbox's that I have port forwarding set up for, but
it will randomly go into being strict sometimes instead. I don't understand why the device is switching back and forth between Open and Strict.

    :)

Strict NAT. Will not open after trying all options. Losing my mind.

I'm having the same problem it randomly switches from open to strict. I have tried everything router related port forward, dmz, upnp, different routers. It seems that i can get my nat open most of the time by just doing the multiplayer test with the 4 bumper
test repeatedly, that seems to work. Still after its opened it will randomly revert back to strict. Their is no way this isn't on Microsoft's end no other device i own has strict nat. I think its the way it communicates with your internet jumping to strict
sometimes and causing you to repeatedly do the MP test until it communicates perfectly and reverts to open. Also thought i would like to state up until lately it would just switch between open and occasionally it would switch to moderate but i don't think
ever strict but maybe a couple times.

sometimes it could be the Router. Often it is a Problem also if your xbox is NOT on Power Save mode. There is a known Bug.

So put your xbox to power save moden and be sure that you have the latest Firmware for your Router.

    This should help.

I switched it to Energy Saver mode and I am still getting a Strict NAT. I've turned off UPnP and my Firewall as well now. For about 5 minutes earlier with this exact set up I showed an open NAT with a Cone NAT but now it's back to Strict NAT with it being
    behind a Port-Preserving port-symmetric NAT

  6. Is it possible that you have IPv4 AND IPv6 in your gateway? Does your ISP give you both?

Have you made sure that your Xbox One has a static IP which has been added to the router for port forwarding ?

If it doesn't have a static IP the DHCP will automatically assign one to it. Sometimes you're lucky and it will be the port forwarded one but depending how many devices are connected to your router it can switch it to an un-port forwarded IP

There is no bug with the Xbox NOT being in power saving mode. The cache just needs to be cleared from time to time by performing a powercycle (you can do this by holding down the powerbutton for approx. 10 seconds). If it is in powersaving the cache will
be cleared everytime it turns off, if it's in stand-by it won't clear it. However that is not a bug

that's wrong. If you use UPnP for example and your xbox starts fresh it configurate UPnP and your router open the ports xbox wants. If you have instand mode then the xbox does NOT resend UPnP command and if your router have closed the ports you get a Problem.

Only if you restart your xbox from power saving mode ensures that all commands for UPnP are send to your router.

That might work in your case but it does not for all users
