  1. Nat: Strict on Xbox1 Nat: Open on COD AW

I have been trying to resolve a Nat problem for the last few days. Since connecting Xbox1 when I play COD AW I get Nat strict in lower left on screen. On my old 360 it said Nat open. It would play multiplayer, but it seemed to me there was something wrong.
So I investigated what Nat was, and found it is something that allows 2 way communications and would amongst other things restrict me from hosting matches. I contacted my ISP and got a bunch of Gateway settings to change (Did nothing), checked Xbox1 Forums
(Got more info didn't work), then checked Comcast's forum (Got answer that seems to work). When I check my network on Xbox1 it says Nat strict and when I startup COD AW multiplayer it says Nat open. On COD it used to say strict, so I will take that as an improvement.
But I still don't know if it is the correct setting. I find this most bewildering. Can anyone shine some light on this?

    :)

Xbox setting says NAT typeNat: Strict on Xbox1 Nat: Open on COD AW :eek:pen while COD AW says Nat type:strict ??

As the title, my xbox one says the nat type is open while in cod: aw says nat type is strict. Anything wrong about that?

    Port forwarding question

Dropped mine in the DMZ and now Ghosts reports NAT: Open

The dashboard has always reported my NAT as open though so COD is either fudged or they are using a completely different port when testing your connection.

Try powering off your modem. You can also brews and hold the power button on your xbox system while it is on to power it all the way down. After a few seconds press again to power on. I have found it works for me.

  5. Tried that. Unplugged both for half an hour. The thing that seemed to work was assigning a static IP to Xbox1 and then assigning the IP to the DMZ(Whatever that means). It shows Nat open in game and Nat strict when testing from dashboard.

Are you still using your 360 on the same router as your One? And if that's the case are you just using the same default gateway that Comcast gives everyone? If you are, then that's your answer. Those gateways can't support multiple Xbox consoles and maintain
an open nat. You'll have to get your own equipment. Try an arris surfboard with a netgear wndr3700, best combo on the market right now for console gaming and under $150 out of pocket.

Oh, that gateway, lol, it's notorious. Here's a good link for that:

Its hot garbage. Comcast has great internet, but if you want to stay competitive while gaming, you need good equipment. Get your own modem and router. It doesn't have to be expensive, it's far better equipment, and you save money by not paying a rental
    fee for that garbage anymore.

  12. That seems to be the consensus. I am getting a Motorla/ Arris SB6141 and I already have a Belkin N300 wireless router. I checked and my latency is 67 wired and 74 wireless, that is at the top end of DSL. I have cable. Thanks for the info Bigbenx88!
