NAT problems and online chat, to hear and be heard???

I'm told by an article in MS support that the reason people, myself, that depending on your NAT settings (OPEN, MODERATE, STRICT) that you will be able or not able to her and speak to most others in a hobby and in a game. It's my understanding
that if your NAT is OPEN you will have the ability to hear and speak, as well as HOST, by anyone else who's NAT is also open.

If your NAT is Moderate (as is Mine) then you will only be able to hear certain others in a lobby or game who have a MODERATE that is slap strict, but that you will probably not be able to host a game.

If your NAT is STRICT, than you will not be able to hear or be heard any anyone, also you will NEVER to able to host a lobby/game.

As far as I can tell this is very much true, I can rarely see or her anyone in a game/lobby, only occasionally and only if their NAT is also MODERATE..

WONDERFUL !!! I'm running on a AT&T U-Verse system now is , in CT at least, run or sold to FRONTIER communications.I'm running wired for max speed (50meg down 5-10 meg up). I thought I'd simple go to my router and open up all the port setting, there
is even a while section on NAT/Gaming that supposedly configures the correct NAT settings for any particular brands or games. I merrily chose the Cal of Duty setup, and of course thats for XBOX 360's versions of and had absolutely no effect. (I forgot to
mention that when I first set it up, I turned on Frontier's router and patched cable into my Apple Extreme router, the new one with the tall tower, that soupiest the news standards (ac, or ag or whatever it;s called) that has ben working fine. I decide when
I first got my XBOX ONE I decided that I wanted to go winfred for speed. Now that I have to open up the router and mess around with everything that I have NO CLUE about.

I had a thought that maybe I should switch over to wireless because I now I can open up all the export ned to in my Apple router. Now I don't know what to buy for the XBOX ONE as far as a wireless receiver and will it be fat enough to allow me to
play?

Anyone who has ANY suggestions , ideas, or cures PLEASE help me figure this out, it is driving me crazy and I can't play in clan matches because I can't her anyone talking.

There has to be someone out there who knows this well enough thatchy can tell me that I either I can do on the wired side to open up the port or ports for the Xbox one or whether would just be easier to go with a wireless connection and what do I need
to buy to plug into the Xbox ONE to support that wireless connection and if that will solve the problem, what I don't understand in an older modem./router it was always "open".

Any gurus that could help, please please let me know the best ay to do this.

Did you try changing your NAT type? The helpdoc says:

Open:

With an OPEN NAT type, you’re able to chat with other people, as well as

join and host multiplayer games with people who have any NAT type on

their network

Moderate:
With a MODERATE NAT type, you’re able to chat and play multiplayer games

with some people; however, you might not be able to hear or play with

others, and normally you won’t be chosen as the host of a match.

Strict:

With a STRICT NAT type, you’re only able to chat and play multiplayer

games with people who have an OPEN NAT type. You can’t be chosen as the

host of a match.

-- So I take that to mean if you have STRICT NAT, and if anyone in the group DOES NOT have an OPEN NAT type you are going to have problems.

Are you both running STRICT NAT type?

Hi,

I cannot hear or be heard in chat. Either party or game. I can join parties and online games no lag etc. Headset is fine and can Skype. Not muted. Diagnostics all fine. Moderate NAT. 4.5mb up, 1.5 down. Im completely stuck!
