NAT issues....

Ok I have a linksys wrt54g I turned on UPnP I also opened all ports related to Xbox Live, I also set static IP's for both my 360 and One... NOW my issue is this, my Xbox One gets a "Strict" NAT were my 360 gets a "Open" NAT!??

Any advice on what may be happening here?

Sounds like NAT or network issues. Sometimes when two people have a certain network config you can play and chat with other people just fine, but not someone else with your same issue.

My wife and I used to have a similar issue with chat in OG Destiny. Check your NAT and make sure it is open not moderate or strict.

 

To get open NAT on both at the same time, you need working UPnP on your router (many home models have a broken implementation) and need to delete all manual forwards and DMZ for either Xbox so that UPnP can open (some of) those ports for the 360 or One as
necessary.

 

I had originally had UPnP turned on, with same results(360=Open Nat, One=Strict NAT). I also had turned it off and manually inputed the proper ports for both, with same results. I even went out on a weird "limb" and tried both at the same time, also with
same result... No matter what I do it always ends with the 360 having an open NAT and the One a strict NAT... I just don't get it...

 

When you had UPnP on, did you have all Xbox-related port forwards and DMZ disabled/deleted? If so, it may be that your router just won't support more than one Xbox with open NAT at the same time, probably due to a poor UPnP implementation.

Also, because the 360 and One both require the same ports to be forwarded, you can't manually forward to both.

 

have you had issues on the xbone? i know my shows strict most of the time but it dosnt seem to effect it like it used to on the 360

 

Hey there Artaya!

GZA have given you some good advice and how to approach this problem, but, to get a better understanding of your situation, could also post up the make and model of your modem as well.

Visit Linksys website and make sure your router (model/revision number) is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware.

The WRT54G serie stores UPnP mappings in its nvram and if it stops behave properly, a simple reboot won't solve this issue. There are two methods to resolve this.

Undo UPnP and reboot your device. Redo UPnP and reboot your device.

Harware reset your device.

There's a feature on most Linksys NAT devices that is known to cause NAT issues, namely 'Filter/Block Anonymous Internet Requests'. Make sure this feature is turned off. You may also try turning off the firewall completely.

Oh, one last thing! The Linksys WRT54G doesn't support multiple console connections with a NAT behavior of Open, or Endpoint-Independent mapping.

 

Taidara, I have tried the things you said and would seem that it is just the fact that my router won't support both open at the same time... Time for a new router I guess.

 

I just echoed what GZA already flagged as a problem.

Do you know if the device your Linksys router terminates to is a standard modem, or a combined modem with router/NAT built-in?
