  1. NAT Issues AGAIN!!!

Ok all ports open and every time i come on to play the xbox NAT is strict, this is becoming annoying as checking your network every time you shouldn't have to do.

When i test connection it comes back all fine and then i press all 4 top buttons and it comes back im behind a Closed cone or something.

Once i press B to back out from that screen it then says my NAT is open, Im getting extremly peed off that i have to do this every time i want to play on the xbox.

After 8 years of xbox live i can not wait for my PC parts to arrive and good riddance to this.

    :)

  3. Weird issue with mic

Sounds like NAT or network issues. Sometimes when two people have a certain network config you can play and chat with other people just fine, but not someone else with your same issue.

My wife and I used to have a similar issue with chat in OG Destiny. Check your NAT and make sure it is open not moderate or strict.

  4. NAT Issues AGAIN!!!

    Hey there Mr Blue Playdoh!

Sorry to hear about the NAT issues. Let's see what we can do to help get this issue sorted. To start out, what kind of network hardware are you using (router, modem, gateway)?

Just to make sure that we have not missed any troubleshooting steps, I recommend trying a few to see if we can get this issue sorted.

Please give the following steps a try:

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 5 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Unplug your router, modem or gateway.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console and router, modem or gateway.
    • Power on your console.
    • Press the Menu button on your controller and select Settings.
    • Select Network and on the Network settings screen, under Current Network Status, check to see what your NAT type is.

Give the suggested steps a try and let us know if you are still experiencing NAT issues.

  5. Hello, Sorry for long delay in reply been really busy and away for work.

I have found out the problem, i have been taking my xbox from my barracks to my girl friends house and every time i come back my IP address on the console changes so all the ports i have opened are all with the old IP.

So is there away to make my console keep the same IP?

In order to make your IP stay constant, you will want to set a static IP. You can do this on your Xbox One by going to Network Settings -> Set up Network, and you will be able to set your own IP address.

Here is a step-by-step guide to setting a static IP on your Xbox One:
    portforward.com/.../static-ip-xbox-one
    .

Let us know if this helps!

If you need to assign your console static IP configuration, instead of having the DHCP server assign your console IP settings automatically (IP address, Default gateway, Subnet mask, DNS information), you'll have to mirror the port forwarding rule from the
router you connect to at your barracks, to the one at your girlfriends house.

I would also suggest that you don't use a unique IP address for your console that are within the DHCP's dynamically range of the IP pool.

Lower the DHCP server IP pool end address and assign your console static IP address outside of this range.

  11. Thanks for help guys,

Im not sure if my router can assign a ip address so im using the 2nd method in the link you gave me but i dont understand this bit -

"3. You will need to pick a number between 2 and 254 that is outside of your router's DHCP range to assign to your Xbox One.

In the example above, this Linksys router uses the range 100-149 to assign IP addresses to devices on the internal network. I chose to assign my Xbox to 201. The IP address that I am going to assign to my Xbox is 192.168.1.201. (Be sure to use the first
three numbers that are in your router's IP address, also known as gateway.) Here are a few more examples for you:

If your router's DHCP range is 200-254 you could choose a number between 2 and 50 to try.

If your router uses 50-200, you could try a number between 2 and 49."

im not good at maths or numbers how do i work that out? also its says about first 3 numbers does that mean 192? or the first 3 set of numbers 192.168.1?

When referring to an IPv4 address it is better to use the term octet (byte). 192. is one octet. 192.168. represents two octets and so on down to the last octet of an IPv4 address (e.g. 192.168.1.0). Each octet being 1 byte. 1*4 = 4 byte = 32 bits

You have class C subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, where all the 255's represents the network (N) you're on and the 0 represents the hosts (H).

    N N N H

    255.255.255.0

    N N N H

    192.168.1.0-255

0 (NET ID) and 255 (Broadcast address) can't be assigned to a host machine on your network, but everything in between (except from the address your router picks).

Most Linksys routers have a feature to reserv an address in the DHCP server client list. I would suggest that you use this feature, instead of manually assign your console static IP settings.
