Xbox 360 name

1. Delete your profile from the console, be sure to delete only the profile, to do so check this link:

support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

2. Clear the console cache, see this link for the how to:
support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

3. Turn the console off.

4. Turn the console on.

5. Clear the console cache one more time

6. Redownload your profile. (See link from 1.)

Maybe somebody else could offer a different answer.

 

PLEASE check with your ISP for that information. Some of them cannot b changed and some appear to be but can mess up the connection so please do not do ANYTHING suggested here as it will depend on your router and your ISP

The Xbox 360 can only advertise the name of "Xbox 360", to a router, or an accesspoint. The Xbox 360 uses UPnP, along with XML for this process, but I really don't see the reason why you would have to change the human-friendly name that your console advertise
to your router.

WELL, let's keep it in perspective, why does the XBOX ONE let you change the name as do my Macs, and Android tablets, iPod touch and iPhones?

I have TWO different XBOX 360's on my network and I would love to be able to differentiate between them without having crib notes on my desk telling me which IP address is for which one.

 

MAdducky please do not get irate at someone trying to assist you, typos happen and it does not mean they are being rude or disrespectful it is usually human error. It was far more important that the person was trying to help you and again PLEASE read my
post and contact your ISP as it is up to THEM how and/or IF you can change the name. I have seen people change the names of their 360 and made it so that it was unable to connect to the router, it was a mes so again please do this safely and contact the ISP.

On my Mac, I can go into sharing and give my computer a unique name on my network

On the XBONE, in settings there is a similar option.

On an iOS product, you can chang the name right in iTunes.

So there is no way to change it in the NXE?

 

Not sure if this helps but on the dashboard go to Settings>System>Console Settings>Console Name. I have done this and the name that I chose shows up when I check my network settings on my PC.

Im assuming that you want to place a name of your Xbox on your home network.

To answer your question, you will need to change your Host name on your Xbox 360. To do this, go to the Settings tab on your home screen - > System - > Network Settings - > Choose your Network Name - > Click on Configure Network - > Switch to the Additional
Settings tab - > Select Advanced Settings - > Select Host Name - > Place a unique name for the Xbox 360 console.

Please note: This feature is used only if the ISP requires a name displayed on your router. However, if your ISP does not require a name then feel free to change it as it will not affect your Xbox Live connection regardless.
