Discus and support Name not taken, but i cant take it... in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; I wanted to change my name to something but it said taken.     I wanted to change my name to something but it said taken. So me being the curious person i am, i went to find someone and searched up the name. Nothing came up. I made sure there was no typo i tried like 10 times! PLZ HELP I REALLY WANT THIS NAME!

    there is a gamertag i want then i try to change it, it says it is in use.

    Name not taken, but i cant take it...

    There are gtags that are reserved although seemingly not in use. If you can't get a certain gtag just use your fantasy and creativity to get one that describes you online and is not already been taken or reserved

    Microsoft has many services both internal and external that use a gamertag system. Odds are the tag you are looking for is being used for one of those services.

    Accidentally changed gamertag

    I siggest you read the e3 announcenent if you try and take an existing name you are given a randomized hastag

    However if you dont want this the onky way around it is to try a not already used name

    You cant take whale if it is already taken hence the hashtag

    You cant check for availability since it is now any names regardless of its taken or not

    You would have it plus a hashtag if its taken already

    Basically NO names can be taken aince you just get a hashtag

    You can if the system says it taken it is taken

    fyi macintoshplus is the same as macintosh plus

    also you cant do a complete search as gamertags are used accross games for windows and zune

    and zune doesnt take friend requests

    when you search a name on xbox.com it only look at xbox accounts not accross all 3 servers

    You will have to be more creative

    or its a reserved name
