Name changed

My name got banned after a few years of using it due to being inappropriate and its been reset to something I hate and I'm being made to pay to change it. Is there anything I can do to get it changed for free or even better get it changed back to my old
name?

Based on what your GT was I wouldn't expect them to change their standing on this.

They didn't charge you for the forced GT change. If you want something different then you'll have to pay. Just don't choose something that violates the info below.

Unfortunately not, once the gamer tag has been named you can't get it back You will have to pay the $10 to change your game tag to something you like. Try and follow Xbox live code of conduct to avoid these situations in the future.

 

so if it goes against the code of conduct why did it let me select the name in the first place? It was the name of my favourite album at the time dont really see what the problem is

 

Some one found it offensive and reported your gamer tag. Microsoft is the one that decided if it was acceptable or not.

 

Whilst Microsoft have a large database of unsuitable gamertags, this is constantly changing. Words that years ago meant nothing are now seen as unacceptable. People also try to bypass the filters by using numbers and other characters to create unacceptable
tags.
