Name change in profile, wrong

So I started an account in outlook after buying an xbox for my son. I used my name in the profile and then realised I should have used my sons name. Ive tried changing it on the p.c in microsoft and that changes it when I log into the account setting via
pc but on the xbox it still comes up with my name. How can I fix this?

Yeah but it was already on there with my former gamertag name and I made a new name, and it hasn't changed to suit that new name.

just to be sure, you can change the name on the profile here:
https://account.microsoft.com/profile/

If the name is already changed but you can't see it (yet) on the Xbox console, then it might be best to redownload the profile

via the following steps

1. Remove profile from the console (Make sure you know the account credentials for the account, since you will need them later)
   
2. Just to be sure, perform the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

3. Redownload your profile

If you not only used your name, but also your own birthdate (or a different birthdate than your son's), I highly recommend you create a completely new profile for your son with the correct information.

The reason for doing this is:

If you give your son your "adult" account, the kid will be considered as being an adult and treated as an adult by the console, which means the kid can buy stuff without spending limits, talk to strangers on the internet and is able to play games unsuitable
for his age.

If you create a specific child account for your son, you can add that child account to your own adult account in a "Family" at
Microsoft account | Your family and you are able to set online and privacy restrictions for your kid if you want to do so.

So the kid can safely play online, without being able to talk to strangers, while still being able to chat online with known friends from his friend list.

Or you can set play time limits, age limits for games, and so on.

So I really recommend to abandon that account (or use it for yourself) and create a dedicated account with the right information for your kid, and then add that child account to your own adult family account.

Unless you already spent a lot of money on that account to buy memberships or games.
