So, the reply function was locked before I could reply to this response for my first question about VIP Stars from XBL Support...

"Hello . We've reviewed your account and the total eligible purchases you made from September 2015 to now is $259.59, which puts you at 86% on your way to unlocking level 1. Once you spend $40.41 more pre tax, you'll unlock your first Star level."

My follow-up question is.

So, if I don't spend $40.41 before the end of the year the count towards $300 resets to zero? Also, if I do spend $40.41 before the end of the year, is my 1 VIP star permanent or does it reset to zero for the new year?

MyVIP Stars

According to the wording in the FAQs about how MyVIP works, you get your first star once you spend $300 in the Xbox Store starting from when you join XBox Live Rewards. I joined in 2010 and have spent a lot of money over the last 6 years. I checked my order
history on my account on Microsoft.com and I've spent $319.58 at the Xbox Store in the past year.

My question is, shouldn't I have at least 1 VIP star and probably more by now?

I miss the 8% credit I used to get with the old program.

Yes. VIP progress is set to reset on January 1. So if you don't spend enough for level 1, you will start completely at 0. If you spend enough by January 1 to reach level 1, you will start the next year at level 1 with 0% progress.

The new year re-calibration of MyVIP will set your total eligible spending to the default starting position. This will cause your progress to be set to default for the new year, then place you into your beginning MyVIP rank for the new year based on your
total eligible spending from the previous year (September 2015 - December 2016).

This means that if you do not spend the remainder of $40.41, your progress will be set to the default amount of 0% progress, with no VIP star. If you reach your first star before the new year, you will retain your star, and it will be your starting rank
for the new year, but your progress will be set to the default.

What will happen to my MyVIP Star Rank in Microsoft Rewards?

MyVIP Star Ranks are not part of the Microsoft Rewards program. If you are an Xbox Live Rewards member with a MyVIP Star Rank and you transition to Microsoft Rewards, you will receive special benefits in Microsoft Rewards for a promotional period through
December 31, 2018. Click here to learn more.

Since we have not yet transitioned to Microsoft Rewards, there is no reflection of your MyVIP Star Rank in Microsoft Rewards.

In order to earn rebates on purchase through MyVip you have to first earn your initial star. In USA it requires spending $300. Once you do that, you receive the first star and start receiving 1%/2% back on purchases.

Unfortunately there is no list on which purchases you make are for MyVip, essentially you will want to review the FAQ and remember that pre-orders, in-game consumables, subscriptions, and items that qualify for other promotions do not count
toward MyVip. If a game/tv show/movie is already released (non pre-order) AND it is not part of an active promotion then it would count toward MyVip progress/rebate.

Hello Wise Owl 2000,

Apologies for the confusion. We were awarding Gems for spending similarly to how we used to calculate MyVIP Credits. That is, we were calculating in 8 GBP increments, and therefore only awarding 10 at a time. However, we recently have been able to start
awarding on smaller increments for MyVIP Credits, so Gems were supposed to work similarly (.8 GBP per Gem). Unfortunately, this change has not yet gone through, and we have only awarded for 8 GBP of your spending. Your other 4 GBP are currently being held
in reserve to complete another 8 GBP in spending. If we are able to release our update soon, you should see these 2 gems appear. Otherwise, you may have to wait for another 4 GBP in spending to receive another 10 Gems. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Regarding the Golden Child perk, unfortunately, since we count each consecutive day you have been a Gold member (similar to your Game Pass MyChallenge), any break longer than a day will result in this Challenge resetting.
