MyVIP and preordering games

Hi,

In September you announced that preordering a game would count towards MyVIP for that month. I was just reading the FAQ about what counts for MyVIP and I noticed that it doesn't specifically state that preorders are excluded. Does this mean the policy has
changed permanently?

My reward clarity

Hi after reading the following in FAQ I just want clarity "What content on the Xbox Store is eligible for MyVIP?Normally, most purchases for Xbox 360 and Xbox One from the Xbox Store qualify, including full Games on Demand titles (excluding game pre-orders)"

Does this mean if I pre-order I don't get the credit on release? Should I stop preordering and buy on opening day if I want to benefit for my rewards?

 

Preorders......

I am curious as to why preorders are for the most part excluded from the myVIP rewards program. Pretty much every game I purchase comes from a preorder as I know what games I want to play and therefore buy. But it seems like an absolute waste unless you
happen to come across a mission for preordering 3 games or more. There is really no benefit to the VIP program for anyone who preorders games, regardless of how many of them you preorder. Which is unfortunate since most games offer a reward for preordering
the game, which you might not be able to get if you wait until the game is actually released to have it become eligible for your VIP star rank. So my general question is why are preorders excluded from this program??

 

No the qualifications are still the same. Preorders do not count,

Interesting. When I looked earlier today the piece about preorders wasn't there. But now it is.

items. In-game consumables, Xbox Live Gold memberships, Groove Music Passes, Microsoft Movies & TV Season Passes, and the purchase or redemption of Microsoft Points or Xbox Gift Cards, still do not qualify.



Previously, it read:

Most purchases for Xbox 360 and Xbox One from the Xbox Store qualify, including full Games on Demand titles (excluding game pre-orders), arcade games, indie games, game add-ons, game Season Passes, movies, TV shows, TV seasons, themes and avatar items. However,
the purchase or redemption of pre-order games, in-game consumables, Xbox Live Gold memberships, Groove Music Passes, Microsoft Movies & TV Season Passes, and the purchase or redemption of Microsoft Points or Xbox Gift Cards, do not qualify.

Pre-orders are not eligible for MyVIP except for the special offer in September. We will remove this announcement on our forums to prevent any future confusion for users.
