Mysterious New Game Sickness

I'm sure, as gamers, we all know about the magical illness that sometimes comes around when a big new game is released. It leaves you in a state where you just can't face work/school/college but just well enough to play games and scream at your TV.

Have any of you ever taken a day off so that you can play your favourite new release, or just for anything else similar really?

Halo 4 producing headaches?

I would suspect it is motion sickness, possibly caused by restricted field of view. Some info on motion sickness in video games here:

I would like to transfer my Xbox Live subscription on my account : "EdG3x Sickness" to my new account: "XxSnakeEyes6xX". Please help.

 

I took the weekend of the Xbox One's launch off. What a weekend that was.

 

X1 launch I was sick as for around 4 days straight. I only felt ok when I had the controller in hand...

I seem to be coming down with something similar now and will have to take tomorrow off work... I wonder if something big, possibly titanic will launch here in NZ tomorrow??

 

Titanic? Oh, I wouldn't ride that if I were you. Maybe you should forgo it and go to work for your own safety instead.

I have taken weeks at a time for various game/tech launches and expansions, i tell clients i have other jobs on and i tell the wife theres no jobs on, self semi retirement ftw.

 

Haha, if my copy of Titanfall turns up tomorrow then I'm going to be flipping coins on whether or not I should go to work. It's just so tempting to have a quiet night in gaming hard instead of working hard.

 

I don't need to get "sick". I have 144 hours mandatory PTO that I am required to take every year. I remember back when Skyrim came out, I filed for 2 weeks off. Under reason, I put "Skyrim". My request was approved.

It sounds stupid, but I don't want my copy to come tomorrow. I want it to come Friday, so I can be done with work for 4 days and able to play till my hands fall off.

 

Can't say I've actually ever booked paid holiday for a game as I never want to waste it although it has become a bit of a yearly thing to use it all up around Christmas and just lie in bed being useless and playing games for 3/4 weeks straight.

Good to hear I'm not alone in the sick day thing though. A 2 day weekend just isn't enough to soak in all the goodness.

 

The only reason I didn't take time off is because I figured, it comes out Friday. Rather than waste Holiday time, or Sick leave I could just suffer through Friday, come home, then have 4 days to play Titanfall.

 

Fortunately I get Fridays off but I have to work Thursday night until 6am Friday. This is great for getting the games as soon as they come out but the problems occur when I'm back in Sunday night.
