My Xbox won’t show a resolution higher than 640x480

I looked on the questions and reply’s of someone asking this question but, the reply’s were from 2014. They weren’t much help. My tv is fine it’s just the Xbox with this issue. Whenever I go to display settings and select resolution it won’t say anything else. I’m confused I’ve tried hard resetting but I’m worried I might have to take my Xbox in if I can’t figure this out.

I have an Xbox one all digital.

    :)

My Xbox won’t show a resolution higher than 640x480

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community and Happy New Year.

Hello MarleemDR, try to follow this procedure that was posted in our community.

On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.

Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later.

The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to System > Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options, and then TV Resolution.

If you are required to complete these steps on every boot-up, you will want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 in the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup." For more information, see How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console.

If you cannot reset the display settings, then follow the soft factory reset option suggested by Onyx.

Let us know if this helps!

    Boosting monitor performance with 360

If you have your CRT connected via the Xbox 360 HD VGA cable you should be able to select 1024x768 as the video resolution from the display settings screen (the default res is 640x480). However it will only do a refresh of 60Hz because that is the maximum
refresh rate the Xbox 360 supports. There is no way to go higher than this.

If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.

On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.

Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to System > Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options, and then TV Resolution.

Xbox One S stuck in Low Resolution Display.

Thank you! Id already seen this video. So ive reset it into Low Res mode and then i cant change the resolution to any higher than 640x480.

    i have three other options:

720p, 1080p and 4K UHD but whenever i click on any of those it just loses connectio for 20s then comes back in 640x480. Its a brand new TV, bramd new HDMI. Ive changed it from the auto detect mode to HDMI and still its the same. I’ve never been so frustrated!
