My Xbox won't recognise my external hard drive.

I was playing a game on my xbox yesterday when it froze, I quit the game and then tried to re-launch it but I kept getting an error message so I turned my xbox off and then when i went back on it, my external hard drive was no longer there, all of my games
that were on there were gone and I was left with only games on my internal drive, the external drive in question is a segate 2tb hard drive made especially for xbox. I have tried to find a solution by myself and using the internet all the 'solutions' I have
tried haven't worked, what is the problem I have alos tried swapping out the cable for the hdd to xbox and no difference, I have no idea what to do :{ ????

I had the exact same problem.

My PC will not detect the drive

Just know if you do have to format the drive then you will have to download/reinstall everything that was stored on it.

Still no luck, it still won’t detect it. I have no clue what to do now.

Try putting it on a PC to see if the PC will detect it. Don't format it just see if it will detect it. If it does you should try a factory reset on your console. You will find the instructions for that

HERE. If it doesn't detect it the drive has probably failed and will need to be replaced.

Try unplugging your HDD and then perform the hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power
cord back in and restart the console. Once the hard reset is finished try plugging your HDD back in.
