    My xbox won't read my Ethernet Cable


    Few days ago, my xbox started to disconnected from the internet by itself, it disconnected for like 5 seconds and connect again like nothing happened. Since yesterday, my xbox stopped reading my cable, like it won't acknowledge there's a cable plugged in. I tried multiple ports on my router, with no avail and I checked up my ethernet cable and its working fine.. I have the OG xbox one. Is the problem from my xbox itself? Thanks in advance for the answers.

    Hey thanks for you time helping me. I already did those steps, twice, with no much luck :-( soon I'm gonna change the end ethernet cable, the one that goes in xbox. Hope that'll solve the problem. 🤷

    Hey thanks for the answer. I cleaned my xbox not very long ago, I do it regularly tbh. And even the port on xbox, and even I clean my router and it ports and end cables all the time. Maybe that what broke them? 😂 Idk. But I'll try to change my end cable head at both sides. hope that'll do the job.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    We need to isolate the issue if it's the Xbox, the router, or the cable itself. In the meantime, kindly perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

    1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

    2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

    3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    the ethernet pins will probably need cleaning, had to do mine a few weeks ago as same symptoms. just uses a cotton bud and some screen cleaner, carefully wiped the pins and then i cleaned the end of the lan cable too, works ok now.

    they seem to get dirty even with them plugged in and used, mine more so as i vape lol.



    the original xbox one is also a dust magnet, i cleaned mine inside as it had not been cleaned since i got it on launch in 2013, it was dirty lol.

    If you want to use WiFi to connect to your network hardware you must disconnect the ethernet cable from the console. It's one or the other not both.

    Wired ethernet is superior to WiFi.
