    My Xbox won't read a disc but can read others, and disc works on another xbox


    When I put in the disc of MW2 in my Xbox, it tries to spin the disc but I hear it fail every single time. I tried all my other games to see if it's the disc reader, but the disc reader can read all my other games completely fine after testing. Then I thought it might be the disc, but I put the disc into another Xbox and it starting installing no problem. I then thought it was dust build up, so I have taken apart the Xbox, cleaned the Xbox and then put it back together, and it still hasn't changed anything.

    I'm at a loss at what to do, I've tried hard restarting, I've tried disconnecting and playing with the power board. Nothing seems to help. I don't understand why it can't read this one disc but can read all my other games. What can I do that hasn't been done already. I've looked at all the forums and nothing seems to answer my issue.

    My name is welcome to the community.

    Hello Ryan, when it says you've done a hard restarting on your console, it means you've done some sort of reset on your console, Xbox has two types, one that erases everything and one that keeps games and Apps.

    If you haven't tried it yet, follow the procedure below.

    Xbox One reset keeping Games:

    Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

    Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

    Select Reset console.

    Restore and maintain my games and apps.

    Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

    Note: You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

    Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

    • Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
    • Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

    The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
    work.

    Really?!?! There is a disc in the drive and it won't read but you can put another disc in without removing the first and the second disc reads? I am not really seeing how that is possible. Really think you should look around outside the XBOX for the missing
    disc.

    Hi,

    it won't be a software problem. The reason is because the Xbox One's Blu-Ray drive actually has two laser diodes, one for reading Blu-Ray Xbox One discs and movies and another to read Xbox 360 and DVD movie discs.

    Essentially the laser that reads BD discs has failed and it's not something you can repair yourself.

    Sorry about that.
