My xbox wont continue after the Xbox 360 Logo at the start up....

Recently this has happened, right after the Xbox 360 Logo all i get is a buffering circle and spins for hour and doesnt do anything. I cant log into my account and i cant even get to the dashboard or anything else but i can open up the mini dashboard
thing from pressing the X on my controller but that still doesnt help. So after fiddling with my xbox doing anything i could, unplugging everything blowing into it and what not nothing seemed to work. Well i got the idea to take out the memory and see what
would happen and now it gets past the buffer symbol but then asks for an xbox live update so i said no to it and it brought me directly to the xbox dashboard. SOOO now i have no idea what is to blame. My hard drive or the xbox itself...

The issue is with the hard drive. Without it you'll need to update the console again to the 4 gb storage (if you have the Slim console) otherwise you won't be able to get online to play.

Update: I plugged in a USB with my main memory taken out and it let me download an update on the USB and now i am able to get to the dash board and what not. So does that mean theres something wrong with my main 250G memory?

seems like you have a problem with your hard drive. If you are using a non-Microsoft hard drive, sometimes the device may appear as “unformatted” and you may be prompted to format the hard drive. Try disconnecting your hard drive and then reconnecting it
to see if it solves the problem. Also, try to clear the cache on the hard drive. If these methods don’t solve the problem, contact Xbox Support:

Umm if you read what i had said. I said that i cant get to the dashboard or anything else meaning i cant even get to system settings. And i am using the hard drivethat came with my xbox 360 S....

I am under the assumption that your console does not have any internal memory since your removing your HDD did allow you to at least load the dashboard. If you do in fact have an internal memory I would absolutely advise installing the Update when you are
asked to perform it. It sounds to me like we need to diagnose your HDD. According to
THIS LINK it appears that the buffering issue may be a result of a compromised cache. I say this since you have already removed the HDD and I presume have put the storage
back in. The best way to resolve this issue is to follow THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
