    My Xbox will not play sound via HDMI


    Hi community,

    Once again I ask for your help, last week I had to do several resets on my Xbox One trying to fix a problem with the DVD reader.... on one of those resets I lost completely sound on my xbox.

    Problem is I have no sound on the TV, I do get sound if I plug my heaphones on the remote, but no way to get the sound coming from my TV.

    Surprise came when getting into the settings, I noticed my HDMI is not greyed out and coming as not connected, stereo uncompressed. The console shows me the message as If the connection was set as DVI which is absurd as I have never had that type of connection, and asks me to change to HDMI seeting.

    So I went in to TV & AV control, tried to select HDMI but apears as not connected, and when you click in there, it just gives me the option to back or skip.

    Some fixes that I have found in this forums, that I have tried unssuccesfully:

    * I have power cycled the Xbox

    * I have soft-reset keeping the data of the games, uninstalled the accounts and reinstalled them

    * I have tried with 4 different HDMI cables, both sides, one of them brand new. All those 4 cables were functional on my other console and TV Sat provider.

    * I have tried the 50 hz and 60 hz configurations

    * I have cleaned carefully both the HDMI port on the TV and the console

    * Reset to factory settings

    * Tried change configuration to energy saving/instant and backwards

    * My TV does not have optical audio cable slot, so its ruled out as an option.

    As always, any advise is super welcome, last time I posted I managed to identify a problem, but seems somehow a new one was generated from those fixes.... tough!

    Unfortunately, since you have tried almost everything, it seems there's an internal fault with your console. Therefore, if your console still under warranty, I would highly recommend sending it to get fixed. You can use the link below to request a repair order for the console.

    I see I saw above that you said you tried on a similar TV and the problem persisted, I believe there may be something wrong regarding the console's sound card, as you said with headphones they work normally. Anyway knowing the methods you tried I would recommend trying to update your console offline as a procedure like a factory reset did not work.

    Thanks a lot Mateus, really useful info... Unfortunately did not fix the issue

    Just to clarify, the dvd reader problem was not fixed, only we identified the lens needed replacing.
